Note from PAC Leader Carol Santalucia

For those of you who were able to attend Patient Experience Conference, I’m sure you will agree that it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, learn and come away inspired. In addition to the great educational sessions, the PAC had several opportunities to network and learn together. On Sunday night, several of us gathered for an informal networking session and delicious dinner at Maggiano's. We want to send a huge thank you to Truthpoint for sponsoring our dinner. It was great to be able to hear from them as well.

Then on Monday morning, we had our PAC breakfast and networking session. Becky Ruckno presented on some of their lessons learned from their refund program at Geisinger Health System, and Brenda Radford, from Duke, and Pam Segura, from Cook Children’s Hospital did a presentation on social media and how it impacts patient advocacy. We also talked about goals of the PAC, and the charges of committees. We want to thank RL Solutions for sponsoring our breakfast meeting.

Contributed Article: Optimizing Your Personal Brand
The last Presidential election brought healthcare again to the forefront of our national discussion. As members of Congress debate what to do with the Affordable Care Act, it is no secret in the United States, a growing number of aging baby boomers are needing more medical care, as our workforce resources are dwindling. Healthcare professionals must become more nimble in their approach while facing multifaceted challenges. During this time of tumultuous changes, tremendous opportunities may be available to advocates who can parlay their knowledge and skills into their personal brand.
