Annual Membership Invitation
2021 Annual Member Meeting and Potluck
Spring is officially here!  That means it's time for our Annual Member Meeting, and we hope you all join us!  Last year our meeting was canceled due to the pandemic; this year, with about 12 months of pandemic-pivoting behind us, we decided to create a way to convene as a community while still keeping everyone safe.  You are invited to “meet” us online, April 10-17, to join in the activities that normally take place at this annual event, such as voting for board officers and -- most importantly -- celebrating local food (recipe swap this year!).  Current members will receive a code to vote by email, so please update your membership ASAP.  We are member-based, which means you all our foundation.  Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Please read on for other exciting updates.

With trowels, shovels, wheelbarrows, and seeds at the ready,
The CFI team

Gardens for Good
We're preparing plots and planting potatoes!  Good things grow in our gardens, literally and metaphorically, and we've applied for an aptly-named funding opportunity with the Gardens for Good initiative! We're in the running for a $5,000 grant to enhance our Community Gardens and we need your help to win!
Read more about our Southside Community Garden project and VOTE HERE! (Please note: after voting you must confirm via email for your vote to be finalized.)
Show your support by sharing the link to our project on social media and encouraging your followers to vote for our project now through APRIL 7th.
Wrapping Up Season 1, Root to Seed Podcast
We're excited to wrap up a fantastic first season of CFI's Root to Seed Food Justice Podcast with a special episode featuring Dottie Fromal and CFI's own Paige Klunk. In this episode, Dottie shares her experience caring for local youth at The HIVE of Nelsonville and feeding families through the Nelsonville Thursday Night Community Dinner. Paige tells us all about CFI's "Nourishing Networks," and we explore the power of placing non-traditional community leaders at the center of local advocacy to achieve our greatest grassroots solutions. You don't want to miss this one! Tune in
Veggie Van Collaboration with Rural Action Buying Club
Veggie Van is partnering with Rural Action this season as a pick-up site for the Chesterhill Produce Auction Buying Club!  Buying Club members receive a weekly box of assorted seasonal produce, May 17th - October 22.  Sign up here, select the Veggie Van location that’s convenient for you, and then simply pick up your weekly goody-box at the Veggie Van market you selected.  This form also invites Buying Club participants to pay-it-forward, which will help us make sure the wonderful local food we’re sharing is equitably accessible.   Find more info on the CPA website.
Want to stay up to date on Veggie Van happenings?  Sign up for our newsletter!  It goes out just once/month & every issue includes a recipe.
And you can still sign up to help out with the Veggie Van study if you live in the Nelsonville or Coolville area!
