NEW Summer Academy

Wisconsin 4-H and UW-Madison Extension are excited to announce a new student opportunity: the Summer Academy!

This program is open to 4-Hers currently in grades 7-10 and will be held from June 19-22, 2023 on the UW-Madison campus. Students will be able to experience life in a residence hall, with the chance to build lifelong friendships with other students from across Wisconsin.

The theme of the inaugural Summer Academy is “Exploring Your WHY,” with the goal of providing students the resources to discover pathways to their futures. There will be chances to learn about higher education from UW-Madison and Madison College, as well as career discovery and networking opportunities.

Students will be able to choose from 7 SPARK tracks to learn what it takes to have a career or hobby in a field that fits them the best. These tracks are:
  • Arts & Communication
  • Leadership & Civic Engagement
  • Agriculture & Animal Science
  • STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
  • Human Services (Head, Heart, Hands, and Health)
  • Construction & Trades
  • Hospitality Management & Culinary Science
During the event, there will also be fun activities and entertainment from the Wisconsin 4-H Leadership Council, the Wisconsin 4-H Drama Company, and more!
Registration is open, keep an eye on this page for more information to come! We can’t wait to see 4-Hers from all of your counties this June!

2023 Volunteer Week

4-H thrives on the generosity of our volunteers. Help us show appreciation for these outstanding individuals by recognizing a specific 4-H volunteer in the county.
Participate in a number of ways:
Submit a photo of that volunteer in action! (4-H related photos only please)
Submit a quote
Record a short video of yourself
  • Thank you “insert volunteer name”
  • 4-H Club
  • Why do you want to thank the volunteer?
  • What has that volunteer done for you, the 4-H project or group, the 4-H club, county, etc.?
We encourage you to submit a recognition by the 2023 National Volunteer Week, April 16 – April 22. Recognitions submitted prior to April 16 will be shared to social media throughout National Volunteer Week to celebrate our 4-H volunteers. 4-H Raffle

The 4-H Raffle Committee is looking for help with securing donations for the annual raffle. It would be very much appreciated if each club could please acquire at least one raffle prize. Please get raffle prize information to ann.kaiser.fdl@gmail.com, phone 920-238-5311, by April 14. Most of our prizes are mailed out to the winners, so certificates/gift cards work out the best.
The raffle tickets will be distributed to clubs at the April 26 Adult Leaders Meeting. The raffle drawing will take place at the Adult Leaders Meeting on August 23. This is a primary source of money to build programs for our 4-H youth.

Adult Leaders Annual Spring Meeting

The 2023 spring adult leader meeting will be Wednesday, April 26, 7 pm via Zoom or in person. Please RSVP at https://forms.gle/rYHLZzQdRmUQTimx5. Zoom information will be sent out a few days before the meeting. You can submit questions you have ahead of time when you register.
There is still an open position on the board with District 1: Alto All Stars, Brandon Tanagers, Spring Valley, or a county leader. JoAnn Critchley served two consecutive terms and was not eligible for reelection. If you know of an adult in a District 1 club who would be a great board rep, please encourage them to reach out! I would be more than happy to answer any questions they may have.
