Good morning! Kevin Guskiewicz has been named the next president of Clemson University. The Clemson Chair Academy recently celebrated its second cohort of graduates; Clemson Livestock Poultry Health named its new deputy state veterinarian.

What to know today:

• Kevin Guskiewicz was named the 16th president of Clemson University. A neuroscientist and higher education leader, Guskiewicz previously served as president of Michigan State University and as chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

• The Clemson Chair Academy recently celebrated the graduation of its second New Chair Onboarding cohort with an event on May 1 at the Clyde V. Madren Center. 

• A new book of academic papers exploring socio-legal history in medieval and early modern Italy will celebrate Professor Emeritus of History Thomas Kuehn's body of interdisciplinary scholarship, built over 39 years of service to Clemson.

• Clemson Livestock Poultry Health has named Catherine Harris, DVM, as South Carolina’s new deputy state veterinarian. Harris brings experience as both an animal agriculture regulator and a veterinarian working directly within the industry.
