Josh Simpson Contemporary Glass | 413.625.6145 | joshsimpsonglass.com | September 29, 2026

See how round glass orbs are made. It's harder than you might imagine!

Every now and then, Josh decides to make 3" Planet Spheres that are completely round rather than flattened like most Planet paperweights. Why? We don't know, and we doubt that he knows. But we do know that a perfectly round Planet has a character all its own.

Like traditional Little Planets and Otherworlds, these spheres require a stand to keep from rolling off your desk or flying into orbit. For this, we offer a large acrylic stand or an assortment of burl wood stands. Both types feature a perfectly sized dimple where the orb can sit snugly in place.

September Infinity Project

This month's Infinity Project participant is Sena D, of Turkey, who will hide a little Infinity Planet in the ancient city of Ephesus, where "the streets were once walked by people whose lives, hopes, and dreams have long since become part of the past, yet somehow still feel connected to the lives we live today and those that will come in the future."
