AMPC Pre-Health Mentorship

Are you interested in Pre-Health mentoring? Do you want guidance connecting with research or clinical opportunities, courses and summer internships, your 4-year plan, or anything Pre-Health? AMPC's Mentor program is a great resource to help you navigate your Pre-Health journey. We match you with an experienced Pre-Health upperclassman with similar concentrations, and they will work with you throughout the year on all things Pre-Health.

We are also looking for Pre-Health upperclassmen interested in being mentors!

Applications are now open for both mentees and mentors. We will have our Mentor mixer on September 15th at the USC 3rd floor terrace from 6-8 pm to allow mentees to meet our mentors.

5th annual Future Leaders in Surgery Symposium (FLXSUS)

FLXSUS is a national virtual symposium series offering undergraduate students the chance to explore the exciting fields of orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, and otolaryngology.

FLXSUS was created to expand access to surgical education and mentorship for students of all backgrounds. Whether you are just starting your pre-health journey or actively pursuing a surgical career, this virtual conference series is designed to inspire, prepare, and connect you with renowned leaders.

Scribe at Olney Pediatrics

Olney Pediatrics is seeking a full-time medical scribe (~35 hours/week) to work closely with several pediatricians and gain clinical experience through significant patient contact. This is a 1 or 2-year gap year opportunity at Olney Pediatrics (located on the campus of Medstar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, Maryland) beginning in the summer of 2026 for health science students. Applications will be accepted through the end of 2025. 

Eligibility:

Must have completed 6 semesters of college

Minimum of 3.7 GPA 

Prefer pre-med, pre-dental, pre-PA, or other pre-professional students

No other prior experience is necessary

Be able to type at least 75 words per minute

Minimum of 1-year commitment (full-time beginning summer 2026)

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and up to date on routine vaccines, including annual influenza vaccine

Dr. Khurram J. Malik, founder of Virginia Retina Specialists, is offering GW students opportunities to gain real-world experience in medicine and ophthalmology. Students may participate in shadowing and volunteer experiences once a month to observe patient care, while those in a gap year can apply for a paid scribe position 5 days a week, (1–2 openings per year, full-year commitment) to gain immersive hands-on experience.
