Meridian Tech Presents Key Conversation with the Oklahoma Motion Picture Alliance
Meridian Tech’s next Key Conversation, Advocating for the Film Industry, features special guests from the Oklahoma Motion Picture Alliance (OKMPA) on January 5 at 6 p.m. This FREE online class allows attendees to learn more about the OKMPA, including how the organization advocates for filmmakers, supports workforce growth and strengthens Oklahoma’s film industry, as well as their upcoming initiatives, events and membership benefits. Registration for this virtual event is required to receive the meeting link.

Film Friendly: Engagements + Recent Certification
OF+MO is seeking to engage with leadership among statewide cities, towns, counties and tribal nations to promote the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program and learn more about each community’s structure and development plans. Last month, OF+MO liaised with leadership representing the City of Blackwell and Newkirk Chamber of Commerce. OF+MO recently certified multiple communities within Woods County, including Alva, Freedom and Waynoka who completed the requirements of the program.

Film Friendly Community Activity Spotlight: Christmas Ball in Chandler
Join the film friendly town of Chandler at the 2025 Christmas Ball on December 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. Attendees can socialize and dance to Christmas classics performed by pop-rock, jazz band After Dark. All tickets include free group dance lessons ahead of the Christmas Ball. Tickets can be purchased in person or over the phone.

OKPOP Reaches Fundraising Goal
Big news for Oklahoma’s creative future! OKPOP has officially reached its $18M fundraising goal — just one day before the deadline. With the state match secured, the museum can now move into design development in early 2026 and finally bring this long-awaited project to life.

After years of delays and challenges, OKPOP is moving forward and rebuilding toward opening its doors. A huge win for Oklahoma’s cultural community.

Levitt Foundation Awards Music Grant to Greenwood District Main Street
Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District Main Street was recently named the recipient of a Levitt Foundation grant to bring a FREE outdoor concert series to Tulsa. The award includes up to $120K in matching funds to present 7-10 free concerts each year from 2026 to 2028 activating public spaces and creating vibrant, welcoming community gathering spots.

Nestled in the historic downtown of the newly certified film friendly City of Alva, the Rialto Cinema offers a step back in time with its remaining original touches while showing the latest theatrical releases. Harkening back to the 1920s, this historic theater is the only family-owned and operated cinema in northwest Oklahoma. Perfect for movie buffs and filmmakers alike, the Rialto features an outdoor box office, stunning marquee sign, concession stand and three theater auditoriums.
