GW Pre-Health Advising Newsletter | GW Pre-Health Advising Updates |
Happy new year and welcome to the spring semester! It's a great time to re-commit yourself to your academic and professional goals. When looking for a fresh start consider ways to increase the effectiveness of your "resolution".*
⋅Set approach-oriented rather than avoid-oriented goals. In other words, you're more likely to succeed at adding something to your life/routine than cutting something out.
⋅Don't set big deadlines or terms arbitrarily as that can lead to discounting small or incremental change. For instance, you're more likely to succeed at "responding to emails faster" than "emptying your inbox daily".
⋅Consider some moderate support. For instance, if you can form a regular study group, great, but even having someone to talk to and check in on your progress periodically is a great way to stay motivated.
Best,
