Hello Graduating Silver School Students! Welcome to the Silver School Graduation Newsletter! These newsletters will keep you informed of important deadlines and information as graduation approaches. The 2023 NYU Silver School convocation ceremony will return to the historic United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights, located at 4140 Broadway, on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 at 1:00 PM. The Silver convocation ceremony will conclude at approximately 3:00 PM.  United Palace Theatre is a short distance from the 175th Street subway station and is surrounded by abundant parking. United Palace is a distinctive, easily accessible venue that, at 3,300 seats, can accommodate many family and friends who wish to celebrate our graduates' achievements. Designed by noted architect Thomas Lamb, United Palace is Manhattan’s fourth largest theater. It was opened in 1930 and designated a New York City Landmark in 2016. It has a rich history as a home for arts, culture, and spirituality, and a strong connection to the vibrant community in which it is based, making it an ideal location for our school’s convocation ceremony. Sincerely,  Silver Graduation Planning Team KEY GRADUATION EVENTS NYU Silver Convocation Ceremony Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 | 1:00 PM United Palace Theatre, 4140 Broadway, New York, NY 10033 NYU Grad Alley Tuesday, May 16th, 2023 | 5:00 - 8:00 PM Washington Square Campus (W 3rd St and surrounding streets) NYU Commencement Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 | 11:00 AM Yankee Stadium, 1 E 161 St, The Bronx, NY 10451 APPLY FOR GRADUATION Applying for graduation indicates that you will be completing your academic requirements at the end of the Spring 2023 term and alerts the University to review your record in order to confer your degree. All students who plan to graduate in May 2023 must apply for graduation on Albert using the instructions noted here by the deadline of Wednesday, February 15th, 2023. NOTE: If you do not anticipate that you will complete all your course requirements by May 2023, do not apply now. It will complicate your process to apply for summer (September graduation). REPRESENT THE CLASS OF 2023 Are you interested in performing a special role in the graduation ceremonies? We are seeking students from the BS, MSW, DSW, and PhD graduating classes to serve as Class Representatives and Banner Bearers. Class Representatives and Banner Bearers are part of the procession in either the NYU Commencement ceremony or the Silver Convocation ceremony, sit on stage during the ceremonies, and have their academic attire provided by the School/University. Apply now to be a Class Representative and/or Banner Bearer! Deadline: Friday, March 3rd at 12:00 PM EST Please be sure to log into your NYU Home to access this form. NYU SILVER GUEST TICKET INFORMATION Guest Tickets for NYU Silver Convocation All graduating students will be allotted 5 (five) guest tickets for the Silver Convocation ceremony on Tuesday, May 16th. You will have the opportunity to select your guests’ seats via the United Palace website (more details in April). If there are any remaining tickets once all tickets have been claimed, we will open a lottery system for graduates to request additional guest tickets.  International Visa Requests (For Guests) International guests who plan to attend Silver Convocation and NYU Commencement ceremonies may need to apply for a U.S. Visitor Visa (B-2). More information about the visa policy and documentation needed can be found online. We recommend that you start this process as soon as possible if you plan to invite international guests. CLASS OF 2023 CHECKLIST Graduation Requirements All Class of 2023 graduates should meet degree/program requirements by the deadline of May 17th, 2023.  Students have a grace period of 30 days to finalize all grades and complete field work, with the final deadline for grade submission by Friday, June 16.  Email the Office of the Registrar at graduation@nyu.edu for any questions regarding your graduation status. Please note, the University Registrar has made improvements to the degree audit and checkout process. Please be sure to regularly check your NYU email for any notifications. If you have questions about any Registrar communication you receive, please forward the email with your questions to Silver’s Registration and Enrollment Services team at silver.registration@nyu.edu. Dean’s Exceptions Those who have six or less credits to complete by the end of Spring semester and will take them during the Summer semester can apply to be a Dean's Exception and participate in all Spring graduation activities. Those who qualify as a Dean's Exception should fill out this form. You are currently able to apply to be a Dean’s Exception. Order Academic Attire Be sure to order academic attire for graduation activities by Friday, April 14th for standard home shipping or on-campus pick-up. More details on pricing are on the academic attire page. Order Commencement Tickets (All-University Commencement ONLY) A link to the ticket ordering site will be emailed to all eligible graduates and candidates in mid-March, along with the Commencement ceremony invitation. Pick Up Academic Attire Graduates of the Class of 2023 who opted for on-campus pick-up during advance ordering may pick up their academic attire at the Kimmel Center between May 9th - 16th.
