Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
New International Version (NIV)
"She is a worry wart," explained one of our students about a family member.  What makes you worry these days?  We may worry about our country, or about money, or about a health diagnosis.  Without question we live in a worrisome world.  If you found yourself in prison for doing the right thing, would it make you worry?

Paul was back in jail when he wrote to the Philippians.  Once his praise had elicited an earthquake in their town.  From Rome he wrote to them his joyful letter encouraging them not to worry.  Why shouldn't we worry?  Because we can pray.  When we pray as Pastor Lester Collins emphasized in sonorous voice, "with thanksgiving," God's incomprehensible peace envelops us, guarding our hearts and our minds in Christ.

Our hope for the future depends entirely on God.  Let his truth inform our prayers today and every day.  No human being will determine our future.  God will.  Talk to him about it.  Prayer moves the hand that moves the world.  Alfred Lord Tennyson said, "More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of."

 Pray with me:
Father, show us the source of our worry today.  We are an anxious, fretful lot.  You never worry.  Help us to bring all of our burdens and fears and to leave them with you.  Cover us with your protective peace today.  Show us again that our future is as bright as your promises.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
