The Sustainability Newsletter | February |
Hello and welcome to the monthly Sustainability Newsletter! We hope to bring you good news to brighten your week and tell you all about the amazing things happening in our community.

My name is Sydney Dvorak, and I am the Sustainability Coordinator here at Drake. I do everything from tracking our utility usage to planning events to engage our community with sustainability initiatives on campus!
If you are interested in getting more involved with sustainability on campus, you can join the sustainability committee! This committee is made up of students, staff, and faculty who are all working to increase awareness of sustainability on our campus. Email sustainability@drake.edu for more information or questions.

The High Seas Treaty, the worlds first legally binding agreement to protect marine life in international waters, went into effect on January 17th, 2026. This historic achievement is a step in the right direction in protecting our oceans!

This month, we are spotlighting the Compost at Events Guide. Did you know that we have industrial compost on campus? You can request a bin for your event so that extra food or paper waste isn’t going straight into the trash!
Questions? Email sustainability@drake.edu or head to https://www.drake.edu/sustainability/resources/ for more information (or to reserve a bin for your event).
