The Casting Director of the Goodman Theatre teaches this class in which all aspects of the theatre audition will be examined. There will be a special focus on preparing sides and working at the level of specificity required at the professional level. Learn strategies to succeed in a variety of audition situations. This class is most appropriate for actors several years out of academic training, with a handful of Chicago theatre credits under their belts. *NO CLASS Oct.16

Cold Reading with Adrianne Cury RETURNS!
8 Weeks $395 6-10p
Wtih sides in hand, this method of script analysis empowers the actor to make, personal, active choices. This technique (based on Shurtleff's 12 Guideposts) will transform your auditions as well as your approach to the rehearsal process. This class is perfect for the actor with a BA or BFA in acting or the experienced actor who has been away from the craft for a while. An Industry Professional will guest direct toward the end of the term.
*Outside reading is required. This class is meant to be repeated.

Master Scene Study with Shade Murray
5 Weeks $350 6:30-10p
Work with one of Chicago's top Directors, Shade Murray (A Red Orchid, Steppenwolf, Writers, Strawdog) and explore the work of Chicago playwrights (Bruce Norris, Rebecca Gilman, Ike Holter, Marisa Wegrzyn, Brett Neveu, Laura Jacqmin, etc). These writers demand nuanced personalization, deep relationships, bold humor and dazzling language skills. We will identify how each playwright structures dialogue and create dynamic scene work.
Prerequisite: Strong theatre skills

Advanced Scene Study with Dado NEW!
7 Weeks $395 6-10p
Seven Weeks, Three Scenes, Three Partners...one damn good time!
Director Dado, an A RED ORCHID Ensemble Member, quickly diagnoses individual actors' challenges and pushes them over/under/through/around those challenges to bring them to a new place. You will rarely have this much fun working so hard!
Please note, this class requires significant outside work: students are required to rehearse outside of class a minimum of twice a week per scene.
