Hi Neighbor!

There are times when you just need to stop and help someone even if it means a negative outcome for yourself. It doesn’t have to be a big something, but a daily pause in our overscheduled days. Some might say, “no good deed goes unpunished,” but I refuse to let that negative attitude stand in the way of helping someone.

Case in point: Recently, I was in downtown Wayne running a few errands and I forgot to pay my meter. As I pulled into a parking spot, I consciously thought to myself, “Don’t forget to pay the meter,” but that fleeting thought left my brain as quickly as it entered and I went on with my business – first to the cleaners, then to the jewelry store. As I was walking out of the jewelry store, I saw an elderly woman standing at a parking meter pay station which reminded me that I forgot to pay my meter! As I hustled to my car and got closer to the woman, she turned and asked for my assistance. In this quick second, I had to choose between the likely ticket or helping the woman. I took a deep breath, smiled, and stopped to help. Her hands were shaking so she couldn’t work the buttons on the machine; she also didn’t know where she was going, so I had to give her directions.

Cost of parking ticket: $20. Cost of helping a neighbor: priceless.

Enjoy!
Beth

 T&E CARE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

The drive runs through Sunday, July 24th
You can either sponsor a child(ren) or purchase items from our bulk list.  Remember not to go shopping until you confirm with us what you want to bring.  The lists of specific needs are on the website.  Drop-off items at the Tredyffrin Library or Play It Again Sports.
If you aren’t around these next 2 weeks, or you just aren’t into shopping, we can ALWAYS use general donations or gift cards.  We will use general donations to shop as needed for any unclaimed items, and we like to give each student a $25 gift card to Walmart, or Target or similar store to help fill in some basic supplies, or buy some shoes, or underwear, or whatever else might be needed. (With 240 kids at $25 each - that’s $6000 worth of gift cards!  It adds up fast.)

Donations or gift cards can be mailed to us at T&E Care, ATTN: School Supply Drive, PO Box 2111, Southeastern, PA 19399. If you don’t want to mail them, or think they’ll arrive too late (we need everything by July 26th) - then let us know at schoolsupplies@tecare.org and we can work out a different plan.  Many thanks!
