December 10, 2021
Greetings, friends:
I’ve been wracking my brain to try to compose a holiday greeting for you all that wasn’t cliché-ridden or that seemed insincere.  I want to say to you that I value each and every one of you as a member of our community, that I cherish all the art that we have determinedly produced in the past year, even under the most difficult of conditions.  I want to tell you how much I admire your commitment to social justice, to activism, and the Jesuit Mission.  I want to tell you how much I appreciate your positivity, your enthusiasm and your willingness to go beyond the minimum to excel and thrive in the artistic and academic worlds.  I want to tell you that I look forward to starting a new semester, a new calendar year, a new season with you—moving forward with what we’ve already started, and prepared to begin much that’s new.  I want to tell you that I’m proud to serve as chair of the DFPA.  And I wish you all a little eace during this holiday season.
Not that I don’t appreciate a good cliché.  Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells, It’s a Wonderful Life, and HO, HO, HO!

All grades must be posted to LOCUS 72 hours after the scheduled final.
If you have not already, please submit the following DFPA Final Exam Schedule form indicating the time and place you’ll be holding your final exam.  Below, you’ll find the University exam schedule for reference; our schedule should match the university schedule as closely as possible.  Please submit this form as soon as possible.
Make the Holidays Green
Please help the University care for our common home during this break by following a few quick steps in your residence halls and at your work spaces before you leave for the holiday:
  • Power down your computer and all nonessential equipment such as monitors, printers, and hard drives.
  • Unplug equipment (including microwaves) and empty fridges and coffee pots in your spaces and nearby.
  • Turn down your thermostat to 60°F or the lowest setting available (if possible)
  • Close laboratory fume hood sashes and power down nonessential lab equipment
  • Double check that all windows are closed and locked and drapes or blinds are drawn shut
  • Use Loyola's facilities service request link to report malfunctioning windows or other building issues that could negatively impact energy conservation.
  • Turn off printers and all lights, including your Christmas lights.
Spring 2022 Book Orders
Only 60% of faculty have submitted orders for Spring 2022 courses. Please submit your orders for next semester as soon as possible. The bookstore has noted that fulfilling orders will take longer than usual due to supply chain issues.
Loyola Gives
On behalf of Loyola University Chicago in partnership with Catholic Charities of Chicago’s Celebration of Giving, we want to thank all who donated to Loyola Gives! Because of your generosity, our assigned family of three young boys will receive the bedding they each requested, and they will be excited to receive a few extra gifts that were not on their lists. Again, thank you for embodying Loyola’s Jesuit mission and the spirit of giving!
Warmly,
