Welcome back! This weeks teaching tips feature important updates, resources, and reminders to help start your semester off strong.
Canvas Updates: Canvas has added a great accessibility feature, the Immersive Reader, and recently released other important updates to be aware about this Fall. A summary of Canvas Updates is available in this video and ITS article.
Policy Reminders: Last year, UNCG issued a Syllabus Policy outlining requirements for all courses. The UNCG Syllabus Template is an available resource to help ensure that all required statements and sections appear in your syllabi. In addition, this is the first semester of UNCG’s midterm grade policy as mentioned in the Provost's Fall 2022 welcome message.
- Find Your Well-Being Module now available in Canvas Commons: As part of creating a culture of care at UNCG, this brief module gives students information and access to an array of well-being resources. A video tutorial is available along with step-by-step instructions:
- Go to your fall course in Canvas. On the home page, select "Import from Commons" on the right.
- On the next page, use the "Filter" option then scroll down to "Shared With" to select "University of North Carolina - Greensboro".
- The Well-Being module should appear on this page. If not, use the Search box to find it. Select the name of the module.
- You can preview the module on the next page. Use "Import/Download" to download this module to your Canvas site.
-
You will need to select which course you want to add to this module.
- New modules like this always appear at the bottom of your course. You can move the module wherever you wish on the page.

| This week's resource spotlight comes from Stephanie Guzman, Assistant Director of High-Impact Practices and Pedagogy:
"The Think UDL podcast has been such a helpful resource to learn all about the importance of implementing Universal Design for Learning in the classroom. I've enjoyed listening to it so much that we have added it as a Literary Circle option this fall! In particular, I recommend the Transparent Design and Design for Divergence episodes."
Check back next week for another resource!
