Easter Chapel/Communion on April 13
Dear St. Michael's Families,
This message comes with our best wishes for a continued happy Easter season – fifty days in the Christian calendar marked by stories of amazement, hope, and joy. Students in class recently have been hearing about some of the liturgical observances and traditions of Holy Week and Easter, from making palm crosses to holding an Alleluia procession. These are beautiful, precious days. Among them, include our school’s Easter chapel, to be held on Monday, April 13, which will include the celebration of Holy Communion. Our hope, weather permitting, is that it will be held in the outdoor chapel on campus, where the Rev. Jeunée Godsey, Rector at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, will join us.
It is important to note that all are welcome to receive the sacrament; the invitation to the table, the gifts of the Eucharist, come not from the church but from the Lord. It is an invitation of openness, heart and mind. Of course, participation is voluntary and all students will be reminded that they may simply cross their arms over their chest for a blessing if they do not wish to receive the consecrated bread.
We recognize that many in our community practice other faith traditions or none at all. Our pluralism is at the heart of our mission to celebrate and honor the value of every human being. As we journey together through this holy season, we offer thanks to God for each and every one of you.
Blessings,
Allison Seay, Chaplain
