Acclaimed Author Roxane Gay Visits IVC |
IVC’s Ethnic Studies Program and Humanities Department hosted acclaimed author and cultural critic Roxane Gay on February 25 for a speaking engagement and book signing. Dr. Gay captivated the audience with a reading from her book Opinions, tackling themes of culture, politics, and online discourse. A thought-provoking Q&A, moderated by Dr. Araceli Centanino, delved into identity, advocacy, and storytelling. Donate New or Used Books for LA Fire Victims |
Do you have books that you can let go of? This is Read Across America Week and Irvine Valley College’s Aspiring Educators Club is collecting new and gently used books this week to help rebuild back book collections for LA fire victims. Please consider donating books for any age group. Drop off locations: Library Front Desk in A 311 (during open hours), or the Center for Teacher Preparation in B 248 today from 11 am – 2:30 pm or Thursday from 6–9 pm.

Men's Baseball Wins Both Games Over LA Mission on Saturday
|
Irvine Valley's baseball team won the first game of a doubleheader, 8-2, over LA Mission and then closed by holding on with a 7-6 victory in the second game on Saturday. From Stopgap to Gobsmacked: IVC Alum Myron Soyangco's Community College Experience |
Myron Soyangco's journey into higher education began with disappointment. After his parents suddenly announced in 2008 that his family would be moving from the Philippines to California, Soyangco had a decision to make. He had just graduated from high school in his home country with a stellar academic record, but it was too late to enroll at a four-year American university as he’d wanted to. His choices were to redo his senior year in high school or enroll at Irvine Valley College. Read More About Myron's Story »
