As students arrive back from Thanksgiving break, it's hard to believe we're already in the last week of classes. We hope your student is proud of their semester and is preparing to finish strong. For questions about the finals schedule or about grades after finals, One Stop's Academic Records website is full of helpful information. Over the next couple of weeks, remind your student to strike a good balance between school work and enjoying the final days of the semester with their community.
Check out next month's conversation topics on the Parent and Family Programs website. And as always, review past issues of this newsletter on our Stay in Touch page.
Love and Honor,

End of Fall Semester Housing |
Residence halls close and card access ends on Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m. If students need to stay in their room after 7 p.m. on December 9, they must submit a housing request online. After submitting a request, they will be notified by email when their request is approved, and card access will be extended based on their approved dates. Students will be billed their daily cohort rate for each night they remain in campus housing during break. The charge for Friday, December 9 is waived for students who submit their break housing request prior to Wednesday, December 7 at 11:59 p.m. The normal daily break housing rates will apply for students who sign up for Friday after the deadline. There are no housing charges for Heritage Commons residents during break. Students requesting a housing change for spring semester must be completely moved into their new room before they depart for winter break.
|
If students need to stay in their room for Winter Term, January 1-21, they must submit an online break housing request and be approved. They can log in to the housing portal to submit a Winter Term housing request. Students taking a winter term course who remain in housing for the full Winter Term have the option to choose a block housing rate of $466. Students not taking a winter term course who are approved to remain in housing will be billed their daily cohort rate for the entire winter term period.

Spring 2023 Registration: IDS 253 |
If your student is looking for a 3-credit hour sprint course that satisfies the Intercultural Perspectives requirement, we recommend IDS 253: Voices Intergroup Dialogue. The goal of this course is to create a setting in which students engage in open and constructive dialogue and explore issues of intergroup relations, intellectual diversity, free speech, conflict, and community. In the process, students learn about themselves and peers with different social identities while gaining valuable skills in cross-cultural communication and team-building. Learn more on the Voices of Discovery website.

New Tool to Support Student Mental Health |
The Division of Student Life is bringing a new tool to support Miami University students’ mental health this year. The Togetherall platform is an online peer-to-peer support program, brought to campus by the Office of Student Wellness.
The platform is free to Miami students, anonymous, and monitored by mental health professionals. Students can join groups that resonate, post about their situation, and find support from their peers. For example, one group is dedicated to students who frequently feel homesick. Another focuses on students who struggle with test anxiety. One group encourages participants to share what they are grateful for on a daily basis.
|
| |
|
Togetherall offers students a space to receive support from their peers, even when they are at home or unable to engage with in-person resources on campus. It increases capacity for supporting students on and off campus.
The platform is available now. Students must use their Miami email to register.
