Tallowood Times | Remember Tallowood Tomorrow

Dear Community of Joy Adoration! "For all that you've done I will thank you . . ." Three weeks into a new year, I am in awe of our great God and all that He is doing among us. On Sunday God added to our family a good number of new members. Fellow ministers and I had the privilege of meeting with some of our guests and new members over a brunch. I love that time of greeting our guests and hearing a little part of their stories. We began our Proverbs study last week as well. I am so thankful for the privilege of teaching God's word. If I could do one thing, I would teach the word of God to the people of God. I also praise God for his bountiful provision through your generosity. Our first three months of giving in our fiscal year (October to September) encourage us as we think of the ministries God has called us to. We are close to paying off our debt for the new buildings we have built since 2008. This is amazing! Thank you for your stewardship of God's gifts to you. Let's continue to grow together in giving with regular, proportional, cheerful and sacrificial gifts.

Anticipation! "For all that you are going to do . . ." As we adore God for all that he has done, we anticipate his work among us in this new year. The last few weeks we have begun to chart a trajectory to focus on "making relationships" as a second plank of our 2020 vision leading us into the future. One of our new members commended us Sunday for being intentional about welcoming and loving people. I love the way Tallowood loves! As we continue to grow as an international, intergenerational congregation, let's be intentional in welcoming the guests God brings our way. Open your homes to guests. Let's love all the people in our city the way that God has loved us in Christ! This Sunday we start at the start in Genesis 1:26-31 with "Created to Relate."

We love loving you,

Duane
Celebrating Tallowood's Newest Church Plant: Grove Church in Richmond, Texas

On January 8, 2015, Tallowood signed a church covenant in partnership with Texas Baptists to support the start of Grove Church in Richmond, Texas. According to Grove Church Pastor Lance Williams, the church's strategic goal is "making disciples that make disciples, and raising up shepherds to equip the saints to be sent out missionary-servants who reach their neighbors and help establish the Kingdom of God in our area." Please join us in lifting up Grove Church for the Lord's wisdom, leading, and grace in the challenging days ahead.

Pictured in the signing celebration are standing from left; Richard Adams, Tallowood Missions Committee member, Gary Patterson, Texas Baptists Church Starter; seated from left are Grove Church Pastor, Lance Williams, and Tallowood Minister of Missions and Evangelism, Eddy Hallock.

Tallowood Foundation Tidbit

Thank you for your gifts to the Foundation this past year. Members contributed just over $117,000 in gifts for the four endowed ministry funds-Church Planting, Mission Projects, Youth Activity Scholarships and General Ministries. As previously announced, our endowment structure allows the initial gifts to be professionally managed thorough the Baptist Foundation of Texas rather than being distributed at this time. The earnings will go to support the respective ministries and the corpus will be allowed to grow in order to enable future levels of support. These gifts will keep on giving, and your heart for Tallowood ministries will bring dividends for many years to come.
