The International Graduate Student Advisory Board (IGSAB) has launched its 2025 anonymous survey to evaluate the challenges faced by international graduate students and advocate for better support. Parent Write-In

Work on academic writing or coursework while caregivers watch your children in an adjoining room. Coffee and snacks provided. This free service is available to all UChicago graduate students and postdocs. Sessions are 3 hours long, and the minimum age for children is 9 months. Registration required.

| myCHOICE mini-course: Effective Writing in the Sciences
Tuesday, April 29, 4:30–6:30 p.m., UChicagoGRAD HQ
How can you write about your research clearly without sacrificing precision? In this mini-course, we’ll review how published articles and funded grant proposals tackle common writing challenges. We’ll analyze why each sample article or proposal succeeds (or fails), and we’ll use the successful samples as models for writing techniques you can apply in your own work. We’ll ask that you submit a short (1-5 page) writing sample to the instructor. This workshop is intended for current UChicago STEM PhD students, Teaching Fellows, or Postdocs.

Summer is rapidly approaching, which means it’s very nearly time for summer softball. The Graduate Students’ League plays Fridays from May–September at Washington Park beginning at 5pm. Many teams are accepting free agents with no required commitment. Join for refreshments and summer fun. Experience is optional but enthusiasm is mandatory.
