Â
Hi Neighbor!
Â
Â
Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret by Judy Blume was a seminal book for me growing up in the seventies. I read the book after my mother died in 1976 during the fall of fourth grade. I remember reading parts of it with my besties, gathered around the book like it was a found treasure. In a way it was for me.
Â
I, like Margaret, grappled with religion and reading this book helped me deal with my feelings about God, religion, and adolescent anxieties. I related to Margaret’s journey to understand herself.
Â
July Blume became an important person in my life after reading that first book. My father was not very open to discuss things like puberty, reproduction, boys, and sex. Blume’s book Tiger Eyes tackles the subjects of losing a parent, not feeling understood by the adults around you, and PTSD.
Â
Over those few years of early adolescence Blume's books parented me in ways my father was incapable of, and her books showed me I wasn't the only person in the world who felt different. At that tender age we all feel different in some way and Judy showed us we were not alone.

Allergy Season Help
Â
It’s that time of year again when everything is covered in pollen no matter how often you wash your hands or your car. Coupled with the lack of rain recently we are headed for a rough allergy season. Thankfully the wisdom of nature provided us with some great help to alleviate the many effects of allergies. One of my all-time favorites is the flavonoid Quercetin which is nature’s version of Benadryl without the drowsiness. You may also remember quercetin for its inclusion in many of the Covid-19 nutrient blends as it also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions.
Â
Some other helpers which make quercetin work even better when used in combination include Stinging Nettle and the pineapple extract, Bromelain. They also have anti- inflammatory and respiratory support actions. Some of us may also remember Stinging nettle as a child when we played in the woods and got the “7-minute itch”! Nature also gave us bees and from them comes raw honey and bee pollen, both of which are effective in reducing allergy symptoms especially when sourced from local beehives.
With allergy symptoms affecting that many more adults and children each year, remember to embrace the power of nature’s offerings.

Beat The Summer Slide. Get Math Help and Enjoy Summer Success Instead!
Â
When summer comes, the knowledge your child worked hard for all school year is in danger of slipping away. This is especially true for math: On average, students lose approximately 2.6 months of math learning over the summer. This summer learning loss can have long-lasting effects, including lower test scores and self-confidence, and a lower chance of success in high school and college.
Â
What does this mean for my child?Taking a long summer break from math makes it difficult for your child to pick up where they left off. By getting math help to avoid summer learning loss, your child will be ready to learn new material instead of falling behind when a new school year begins.
Â
Up to 6 weeks in the fall can be lost relearning last year’s content. How to achieve summer success
