Connection Year Resources by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
One of the things I love most about my job is that I get to supply resources to help you find deeper connection with your values, your life, your community, and the world. They say, “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.” Here is my attempt at leading you to plentiful water! I will assemble these packets of resources for your use every month. Feel free to use one, two, or all of the resources in whatever way works best for you.
There will always be an introduction to the monthly theme, followed by a chalice lighting, a chalice extinguishing, and a reading for use either in a group (committee meeting, small group, etc.) or at home at the dinner table, family meeting or whatever works best. There are essays and sermons that discuss the theme of the month, as well as some questions to contemplate based on those readings and sermons. I will also provide some options for spiritual practice to deepen your connection to the theme.
Each month our themes are focused on the UU 7 Principles, so these resources will help you get more acquainted with our principles. The Appleton Wellspring Wednesday program is focusing on the UU 6 Sources of Inspiration, and there will also be a little information about those in the resource packet. Each month in Justice Connection Saturday, we’ll be focusing on one of our Justice Action Ministry teams (JAMs) so I’ll highlight that group and their work in the resources. Lastly, our two Spiritual Connection Saturdays each month will introduce a UU ancestor that you might want to get acquainted with, and I’ll give you a little introduction to them in the resource packet, as well.
There are lots of ways to connect to our UU history, beliefs, values, and community int this one document!
Print it out or save it on your computer! I hope you find them useful. Click HERE for the September packet.

Upcoming Services
September 9 (10:00 am)
Mingling of the Waters by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
American Sign Language interpretation provided by Jacqueline Corey
On this, our final 10:00 am summer service, we will mingle together our water from near and far, and bless it to use this coming year. This is our traditional annual service of reconnecting to our Fellowship community as the summer comes to a close. We will celebrate the power of our community as a place of safety and risk, and find courage and strength for our work the coming year.  **Bring water to share from your summer travels, a nearby lake or fountain, or just from home! Only a small amount is needed. **
After the service, please join us in celebrating the wedding of our partner church minister Zoli Koppandi to his new bride Julia. They will be married in Deva, Romania on September 8th by Rev. Roger Bertschausen. The Partner Church Committee will serve wedding cake to honor this event. We will have a card to sign so that all can send their good wishes to Zoli and Julia.
September 16 (9:00 and 10:45 am)
The Call of the Shofar
by Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy and Jaclyn Kottman

Our annual service in honor of the Jewish High Holy Days will center on the four traditional calls of the shofar (the ram’s horn) which remind us of the joy, woe, reflection, and relief of facing our mistakes and atoning for the good of the world. Join us for this service of contemplation, celebration, and connection led by Rev. Christina and lifelong Jewish UU Jaclyn Kottman. The traditional Kol Nidre will be offered by Fellowship members Mark Urness and Dan Van Sickle, and shofar offered by guest Julian Cohen.

We are looking for adult members of our community to help our youngest members do the same in a safe and loving environment. If you have one Saturday per month to give to this important work, please contact Kim Hartman, director of religious education. We need YOU!

Appleton Wellspring Wednesday
Sources of our Faith
Our Wellspring Wednesday program nurtures the lifelong development of the whole person - body, mind, heart, and spirit - through broad and flexible opportunities for study, exploration, reflection, and spiritual practice. This year's focus will be the six Unitarian Universalist sources.

Wednesday, September 12
6:30 - 8:00 PM
Introduction to the Sources with Rev. Christina Leone-Tracy
We all know about the UU 7 Principles, but we don’t talk as often about our 6 Sources of Inspiration. These are the wellspring from which our sources come. So, how appropriate that our Wellspring Wednesday program will cover the six sources this year, beginning with an intro session with Rev. Christina! Come to this session to review all six sources, consider the various ways you are inspired in your own life, and challenge yourself to be open to inspiration from sources you might not readily expect.

Justice Saturday Kickoff!
Saturday, September 15th; 4:30-5:45

Children 8 and over are welcome and childcare will be available for those younger.

Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build Lunch Donation Needed
Greetings everyone, once again the Fellowship is participating in the Interfaith Build with Habitat for Humanity. Along with several construction needs, the Fellowship is assigned as a Lunch Donor for September 11. There are two neighboring Interfaith builds going on simultaneously that day, so there will be approximately 33 people to feed that day. You can sign up as an individual, or you can get a group of people together to provide a main course and several sides and/or desserts (we’d just need one main contact person). Click HERE and scroll to September 11 to sign up.
Volunteering together provides a way for people to have fun together while pursuing a common goal. You will be strengthening your community and empowering Habitat homeowners to build a better future for themselves. Your service will also deepen your ties to the neighborhoods around you and provide stability for the city you all share.
If you have any questions, please contact Angie Demers at angied@foxcitieshabitat.org or 920.967.8895. Thank you in advance!
