Prof. Brinkerhoff on Representation in American Foreign Policy
Jennifer Brinkerhoff published findings on how the US State Department from 1949 to 2020 did not achieve diversity reflective of American Society. Her focus is on Black Ambassadors and she gives implications linked to networks, access to power and influence, establishment of norms, and using data for justice. Prof. Adams and Other TSPPPA Professors Engaged in AI Initiatives
The use of generative artificial intelligence is now formally utilized as a research tool in three introductory courses by Professors Elizabeth Rigby, Lori Brainard, and Bill Adams. In addition, faculty groups are sharing and learning how our School can best use AI in education. Recognizing the initiative to examine AI opportunities and challenges, Professor Adams was appointed to GW's newly formed AI Faculty Advisory Council.
Prof. Toregas Advising House Reps on AI-affected Worker Pipelines 
The House Oversight Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, IT and Government Innovation gathered insights from Costis Toregas,head of the Cyber Security and Research Institute at GW and Trachtenberg School courtesy faculty, on topics related to AI. Hear thoughts he shared at the hearing on creating a workforce pipeline for jobs affected by AI using the link below.

The Department of Justice's Office of Inspector General is interested in connecting with graduate students for many of their offices including Evaluation & Inspections Division, Audit Division and Management and Planning Division. Attendees will hear from multiple senior level DOJ staff members, learn more about their work and the high need for qualified applicants for positions nationwide within all of these OIG divisions. This employer briefing is open to all NASPAA school students and alumni through a special collaboration initiative.

Shared Services Workshops Underway

The Trachtenberg School is partnering with the Shared Services Leadership Coalition to offer Basic and Advanced Workshops to Federal Government representatives pursuing or considering starting a shared service approach to delivering on their mission. The presenters have experience with shared services (e.g. in NASA, GSA, DoD and private firms) that are engaged in Quality Service Management Offices (QSMOs) or other mechanisms for using shared services to create efficiencies and reach agency priorities. The first session on January 23 drew 30+ learners. They include GW's Steve Redburn and Costis Toregas, along with many GW alumni. A workshop slide is above.
