2023 Distinguished Speaker Series Coming Soon!

We are thrilled to announce that the Distinguished Speaker Series (DSS) is back! This year’s series, Advocacy from the Bench, features four honorable judges from across Texas! Registration is $25 and includes all four episodes. A new episode will be released each Wednesday in September. Registration opens August 1, 2023, so mark your calendars and get ready to register for this year's DSS!

Meet Our New Grants Compliance Specialist
|

|
Wilbert King comes to CASA after retiring as a Grants Specialist of over 30 years with the University of Texas at Austin. Wilbert studied Economics at the University of Texas before transitioning to a full-time position. Wilbert worked as a Pre-award and Post-award grants specialist for UT Austin on federal, state, county, city and foundation awards and has many years of experience as a compliance officer. Welcome, Wilbert! We are happy to have you on the team!

Public Policy Tour of Texas Starts Aug. 25
|
|
|
|
The Texas CASA Public Policy team is gearing up for a webinar and several in-person regional training sessions this fall detailing legislative changes and impacts on the CASA Network following the 88th Legislative Session.
The webinar will kick off the tour on August 25 and in-person trainings begin August 31. You do not have to be a member of a LAT team, nor does your local CASA program have to have a LAT team to attend!

DFPS Light the Way End Human Trafficking 2023 Summit

|
Registration for the 2023 Summit is now open! The event is free, but spots are limited and go quickly. Taking place in Dallas on August 23-25, 2023, this conference will feature a variety of Texas leaders and nationally recognized experts associated with a spectrum of anti-trafficking efforts in Texas and the nation. Texas CASA is pleased to be able to share this opportunity with the larger CASA network and we hope to see you there!

New Episode featuring Sarah Bryant from The Family Helpline

In this episode, we're deeply honored to be joined by Sarah Bryant, managing attorney for The Family Helpline. Sarah brings her extensive experience representing both children and parents involved in CPS cases to this discussion, highlighting how CASA volunteers and others within the system can work to effectively partner with families and strive to improve procedural justice through CASA advocacy.

Roll Call Training Series: Child Victims with Disabilities
|
|
|
To extend the celebration this July for Disability Pride Month and promote ongoing awareness and education, Texas CASA is delighted to share a comprehensive training series from The SAFE Alliance. The Roll Call Training Series is comprised of five concise and impactful video sessions tailored for first responders, law enforcement personnel, CPS staff and other professionals dedicated to supporting child victims with disabilities. These videos range between 15 to 18 minutes each.
