Dear GW Business Community,
Welcome to our monthly update, where we share the latest news and developments in the commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This month, we commemorate International Day of the World's Indigenous People on August 9. This is the date that the United Nations held the first meeting of its Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982. The day brings awareness to the rights of Indigenous peoples and the social, environmental and other developments they have made to our world.
Women’s Equity Day is celebrated on August 26 on the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the constitutional amendment that made it illegal to deny citizens the right to vote based on sex, granting women the right to vote. We have made great strides since the women’s suffrage movement. I encourage you to visit the GW Vote website to learn how you can register to vote and participate in this year’s election.
