May Issue
Greetings from DCPS Global Ed!  We are so excited that spring has arrived (even if it feels a bit more like summer these days).  We know many of you are busy preparing your students for Poesia performances, Mini United Nations deliberations, Embassy Capstone Presentations, IB exams, and travel abroad.  We remain incredibly proud of the work you do each and every day to bring the world to your students; if you are interested in learning more about the impact of your work, take a look at a recent P21 post we shared about global ed in DCPS.

As we head towards the end of the school year, we will be in schools and celebrating the global work of you and your students.  Here are two “save the dates” to consider for your calendars as the year winds down!

World Language Festival, May 19, 10am-1pm, Eliot-Hine Middle School.  Get ready for a day full of fun featuring student activities, food tastings from International Food Days, cultural performances, and an exhibition hall with representatives from community partners, and embassies, and so much more! Spoiler alert: we will be giving out FREE DCPS Global Citizen shirts!

Global Learners Gala, June 5, 5:30pm-7pm, Roosevelt High School. This first annual event will bring together students and families who are involved in DCPS Study Abroad, Dual Language programs, Seal of Biliteracy, Embassy Adoption Program, and more.  It will be an exciting event celebrating our students’ many global achievements, filled with performances from both students and local artists.  We hope you can join us! Please e-mail us at global.ed@dc.gov if you are interested in attending.

We are excited to see many of you at these events and more in the coming weeks!  Thank you as always for everything you do, and enjoy this lovely May weather!
