Numbers 33:1-2
Here are the stages in the journey of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt by divisions under the leadership of Moses and Aaron.  At the Lord’s command Moses recorded the stages in their journey. This is their journey by stages:
New International Version (NIV)
How many times have you moved in your lifetime?  Pastor Eddy Hallock told me once that he had moved over twenty-five times in his lifetime.  I counted my moves and came up with a similar number.  My father served in the military which meant we moved often in those days.  Friends in the oil field tell similar stories.

The Israelites moved over forty times in their forty year trek through the wilderness.  Reading the list of the place-names is not easy.  They lived in a lot of places.  During their whole journey they were never once alone.  A pillar of cloud led them by day and a pillar of fire by night.  Even when the Israelites rebelled against God he stayed with them.

All of us are on a journey.  Either our jobs or family needs may cause us to move.  Here is the good news:  God still travels.  He will go before you today.  You are not alone.  Trust in his presence.  Follow as he leads.  He will get you safely home.

Pray with me:
Father, we know can’t stay where we are and go with you.  So help us to release anything that would keep us from following you.  Guide us to the end, we pray, and lead us safely home.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year our Every Day with Jesus readings will follow The Bible Project Read Scripture Plan.  Copies of this reading plan are available at Tallowood Baptist Church, or download
the app at readscripture.org.  Read through the Bible with us in 2019!
Joyfully,
