Luke 24:28-31
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther.  But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.  When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.   Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
New International Version (NIV)
“Savior, Savior, hear my humble cry:  while on others thou art calling, do not pass me by.”  Do you remember singing those words?  A new song called Pursuit says, “I am pressing in to you so do not pass me by.”

As Jesus walked along the Emmaus road with Cleopas and another unnamed disciple, he opened the scriptures and taught them about himself.  Then as they neared their destination, he acted like he was going farther.  But they urged him, “Stay with us,” so he did.

God can go anywhere he wants to.  Most often he goes where he is welcomed with open hearts and minds.  Another hymn says, “Abide with me, fast falls the eventide.  The darkness deepens.  Lord with me abide.  When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh abide with me.”

Pray with me:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are welcome in our hearts and homes today.  You fill the whole universe in every way.  Would you fill us today with your presence.  We know you will not pass us by.  Since you are close as a prayer, please abide with us today.  We will need you for the whole day, and our whole lives.  Let us not pass you by, we pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
