Reaching the Hard to Reach
There is a lot in the news these days about followers of Islam and people from other countries being in the United States. In many ways, it feels like Acts 1:8 is coming to us, and people from all over the world are in our schools and workplaces. What a time to be alive! We can learn much from how believers in the past dealt with similar situations. Recently, we did a Better Together Podcast with John Weaver who has ministered for more than 20 years to the people of Afghanistan. On the podcast, John mentioned to pray for the Taliban. Isn’t that a bit like the way Naaman’s servant felt about him as she pointed him to God’s prophet (2 Kings 5:1-8)? Or like Daniel’s behavior toward Nebuchadnezzar who had been cruel to his people (Jeremiah 29:22; 2 Kings 25:7) when he encouraged Nebuchadnezzar to repent (Daniel 4:27)?
We have been instructed to pray for all people (1 Timothy 2:1-7) and to take the Gospel to them (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15). But how can we do this? Below are some resources that help us with these more difficult Gospel-sharing situations.
Don’t forget, if you have a specific prayer request for Gideon’s Army, please send it to us at questions@nafwb.org.
