New Adobe license: Early activation is available

Existing U Adobe licenses expire on 12/17

You’ve received this email because your U of U Adobe Creative Cloud license will expire on 12/17.

As previously announced, Adobe is moving all of its customers to a new licensing model and discontinuing its current model. As a result, the University of Utah and other universities are transitioning to an opt-in model. Starting on December 17, 2024, all existing university Adobe licenses will expire, and eligible U of U community members who need to use Adobe products for university purposes will be required to activate a new license. There will be no loss of data, only a new license.

New license activation is available as of December 3, 2024. Please note that some IT support teams in departments, colleges, and other units have already provided UIT with lists of Creative Cloud users who need access to the equivalent new product, Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Pro. These users should receive an email confirming that their new license has been activated.

You may activate a new license for Adobe Express (recommended for most users) or Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Pro based on your university-related needs and the minimum software that supports them.

To activate a new Adobe Express license:

Visit https://software-catalog.app.utah.edu/adobe/express (login required)
Select the REQUEST ADOBE EXPRESS LICENSE button
You may be prompted to verify your identity with Duo two-factor authentication (2FA)
You will be redirected to the Adobe Express homepage
Your new Adobe Express account is now activated
Note: You may need to sort by the Created date to access your newer files
You will receive a confirmation email from classhelp@noreply.utah.edu indicating that your new account has been activated
After signing out, you can access Adobe Express in your browser by visiting express.adobe.com/a/utah.edu

To activate a new Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Pro license:

Visit https://software-catalog.app.utah.edu/adobe/creative-cloud (login required)
Select the REQUEST ADOBE CC ALL APPS PRO LICENSE button
A web form will ask you to specify which Adobe applications you need and provide a brief justification for the license
Select the Activate button after completing the web form
You will be redirected to the Adobe sign-in page
Your new license may take up to 10 minutes to process
Depending on your recent authentication activity, you may be:
- Prompted to enter your uNID@utah.edu email address in the email address field and select Continue
- Redirected to the University of Utah authentication page to enter your uNID email address and university password
You will be redirected to the Creative Cloud homepage
You will receive a confirmation email from classhelp@noreply.utah.edu indicating that your new account has been activated
If you wish to download the Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Pro desktop application, select the Account (circle) icon in the upper-right corner
In the dropdown menu, select Install Creative Cloud Desktop
Locate and launch the Creative_Cloud_Installer.dmg file downloaded on your device (local IT staff support may be required to install Adobe software on devices owned or managed by the university)
After signing out of your Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Pro account, you can sign back in at https://www.adobe.com/ with your unid@utah.edu email address and university password

If the license you select supports Adobe applications already installed on your device, they should continue to function seamlessly after December 17.
After six months of inactivity (six months since last login), Adobe accounts will be flagged for deactivation and you will receive a notification with instructions on how to keep your account active.
