Dear St. Michael’s Families,
Life as we knew it has been put on pause and social distancing and remote learning are now the new normals. Yet, I’ve never been more proud to be a Dragon! As a unified team, our faculty and staff are committed to serving our students well within this new, but temporary, context. We remain true to our mission.
In light of the current and unprecedented pandemic, we are mindful of the myriad of ways COVID-19 is impacting all of us. (Thank you for sharing uplifting and constructive feedback in our recent survey.) Looking ahead, we are hopeful and planning to be together in August. To that end, I want to remind you of a few important matters, and should you have any questions or concerns we may address, please contact Director of Finance Mike Jackson or me. We are here to talk through any specific family needs.
Contract binding dates are April 30, May 31, and June 30. St. Michael's engages its faculty and staff, purchases supplies, and plans its operating budget in advance of each academic year on the assumption that each student enrolled in the School will remain for the full year. Tuition obligations are as follows:
If St. Michael's receives written notification by April 30, 2020, of student withdrawal, the family is not responsible for any tuition charges except the $500 deposit and any enrollment fee paid, both of which are non-refundable.
If the School is notified during the period May 1 - May 31, the family is responsible for 60% of total student tuition.
If the School is notified during the period June 1 - June 30, the family is responsible for 80% of total student tuition.
After June 30, families are responsible for 100% of student tuition.
Payment Plans: Please reach out if your family needs to change your preferred payment plan-- full payment, 3 installments, or 10 monthly installments. (Please note that interest fees apply for monthly installment plans.) The contract states that St. Michael's must receive written notification prior to May 1.
Tuition Insurance is available for all families. (Note: it is required for families who opt for our monthly payment plan.) Election for this program must be made by August 1. Click here for details on tuition insurance. To sign up, please contact Mike Jackson.
Activity Fee Credit: A credit of $48 for grades K-5 and $54 for grades 6-8 (equal to one-third of the current year’s activity fee) will be issued to each returning student’s account in the business office. Eighth grade parents will be offered a refund. All parents have the option to donate their credit to the St. Michael’s Annual Fund. The Annual Fund is a vital philanthropic initiative that touches every aspect of a student’s time at School. From professional development for faculty and staff to enhancements in instructional technology, your support ensures that our Dragons have all they need to flourish. Please fill out this form to indicate your preference.
We look to the next school year with great excitement. Our graduating eighth graders are nearly 100% enrolled in their next schools -- for which we are immensely proud. Our Major Dates calendar for 2020/21 is set. Sixty new students have enrolled and 99% of current kindergarten-seventh grade are re-enrolled. Suffice to say, the strengths of our program abound and are well recognized throughout greater Richmond.
Thank you for the unwavering support of your children, our teachers, and our program in this unprecedented time. The entire St M faculty and staff join me in sending all good and healthy wishes.
