Hi All,
This week we had the chance to recognize a County Board Supervisor. Many of you may not be aware, but the County Board has Supervisors who serve on a variety of committees. One of those committees serves as a part of the Wisconsin State Statute §59.56(3)(c) on Extension Education. Supervisor Allen Behl (District 19) has served on that committee for the past 18 1/2 years. He served for many of those years as chair of the committee and represented Extension to support its programs, meeting with legislators in Wisconsin and Washington DC to communicate the importance of Extension locally, statewide, and nationally.
In addition, Dodge County has a school district superintendent who has served on the Extension committee since 2014 and who has also retired this year. We also recognize Annette Thompson, superintendent of Dodgeland School District for serving in that role.
Both of these individuals have been a great support to the Extension programs and especially the 4-H program. We wish them well on their retirement!

WI 4-H Hall of Fame Nominations Open
Nominations for the 2022 Wisconsin Hall of Fame laureate class are now open. Nomination forms and more information about the WI 4-H Hall of Fame can be found HERE. Volunteers Help Make 4-H Possible
To volunteer, you don’t need to have previous experience working with youth. The most important qualifications are
- a desire to work with young people to help them learn new things and gain life skills; and
- wanting to provide youth with positive experiences in a safe and welcoming environment.
Extension volunteers work with staff to deliver educational programs using University and other high-quality educational resources.

Family Learning Fun Zoom - Traveling Rocks!Tuesday, March 29 at 6:30 – 7:30pm
REGISTER IN 4HONLINE!
Learn how to interact with your community through rock painting. Groups around the nation are passing words of encouragement through the use of painted rocks. We will talk about how we explore our community; find different types of rocks and how our painted rock messages can travel as well!
Great for project members from Explorers, Cultural Arts, Backpacking and Hiking, or club members & leaders looking for community service ideas!
You will need sketch paper, permanent drawing or painting supplies, and a few of your favorite rocks. They should be easy to hold in one hand. If you do not have permanent markers, paints or access to rocks, kits will be available at the Extension Office between March 22 and March 29. Hosted by Lisa Schwartz, Lebanon Luckies 4-H Club.

Community Marks the Spot Activity Plan
Community Service has always been a big part of the 4-H program. For the past 3 years, the state has offered a Statewide community service project. This year, it is focused on your community. In this project, youth will plan a non-competitive game that takes players to different locations around their community, like a scavenger hunt. The locations they choose will highlight a special theme the youth want to learn more about, strengthening their sense of belonging. Through the game, players will go on a fun adventure to explore the community.

4-H Wants YOU to be YOUThe 4-H Movement has launched another challenge with Chris Clover, the "4-H Wants YOU to be YOU" campaign!
We're excited to learn about what is important to YOU in this new challenge. We hope you'll help by designing a shirt for Chris Clover so we can share with everyone! As art of this challenge, we are also looking for resources and information about the topic.
Here's what to do:
1. Download the Chris Clover shirt template from the options below, or if you want, create your own or free draw.
2. Create your shirt about a cause, project, history, anything important to you.
3. Write about your shirt and any information or resources you have that will help others learn.
The first deadline for submissions is May 1st.

Dodge County Master Gardener Scholarship Application Deadline is April 1, 2022
The Dodge County Master Gardener Association will award a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior who is planning a career in some area of horticulture. The recipient must live in Dodge County and be a graduating senior from any public high school, parochial high school, or home school. More information on the scholarship and the application HERE.

Livestock Project Educational Reminders
There are educational opportunities and Information on the MAS requirements, forms and opportunities listed HERE. Remember that the Educational Event Verification form is on that site to be completed.
HERE is the link for the Youth livestock event verification form for virtual events.
Youth and families need to keep the forms and attach to the 'Orange Cards' and hand in all at the due date.

Market Animal Identification - Beef, Sheep, Swine and Feeder Beef
Junior Fair Market Beef, Market Sheep and Market Swine will be identified through tagging, DNA collection, and a 2022 Google Exhibitor/Family registration form. Feeder Beef projects will be identified through tagging and a 2022 Google Exhibitor/ Family registration form (no weigh-in).

Pig Pens for Sale!There are still a fair amount of old pig pens for sale. If anyone is interested in buying these for your projects please contact Eric Salmi at 920-988-1817. First come, first serve - no holds. All money donated for the pens goes back into the MAS account for future improvement projects.

YQCA Transitions to New PlatformYQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) has transitioned to a new website platform. Visit https://yqcaprogram.org/ for information.
Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) is a national multi-species quality assurance program for youth ages 8 to 21 with a focus on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development.
All youth who exhibit beef, sheep, and swine at the Dodge County Fair will be required to complete YQCA training (YQCA does NOT count as an educational point).

Apply for a Youth Dairy Grant Today!
The grant funds are to be utilized to purchase a dairy animal (any breed) to grow a youth’s dairy herd. $500 grants are available for the 2022 program. Grant money is made available through proceeds from the Dodge County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction, held each year at the Dodge County Fair. Deadline to apply June 1, 2022.

Share Basis Calf Project
Would you like to own a registered Holstein female? Or earn savings bonds by caring for a project heifer? If so, the Holstein Association Share Basis Calf Project is for you!
Objectives of the Share Basis Project:
-To promote interest in registered Holsteins among youth
-To provide club members an opportunity to build equity in registered Holstein by providing the feed, labor & care involved in raising a calf
-To provide a high-quality calf for members with limited fund who wish to purchase an animal through the project
-To encourage members to learn recommended methods o feeding, training, showing, breeding, advertising and merchandising of registered Holsteins.
-To provide a learning experience for youth in the economic and business of dairying. Standard forms for feed records, pedigrees, contracts and agreements are required to hel provide this experience.
Eligibility Qualifications include:
1. One year 4-H/FFA Dairy project [include showing at Fair]
2. Must agree to keep required records
3. Must have parents’ consent
4. Must fulfill terms/conditions of contract
5. Members must have a dairy home farm herd or be sponsore by a dairy farmer [keep the calf on a dairy farm –daily care would be by member]
6. Member must reside in Dodge County
7. Member must join Jr. Holstein Club and parents are asked to join Dodge County Holstein Association
8. Top rated exhibitor of Share Basis Calf will be one of the Dairy Auction participants

Sheboygan County 4-H Cat ShowThe Sheboygan County 4H Cat Project will hold its 27th annual Open Household Pet Cat Show on Sunday, May 1st at the Sheboygan Lakers Ice Center in Sheboygan. This show is for all cat exhibitors age 8 and up – no need to be in 4H! The show will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature cat costume contest, decorated cage contest, vendors, raffles and a silent auction.
The deadline to enter cat(s) is April 17th or when cage space has been met.
We are looking for Vendors! Please email Alice at amsamse@charter.net to inquire about serving as a vendor at the show – we are seeking family-oriented crafters/vendors of all kinds.
Spectators are welcome! Admission will be $2 per person age 6 and older or a cat food donation for a local shelter.
