We invite you to celebrate SUU's founding with us March 15-19. Founders Week is a time to remember the stories of heroism, selflessness, and service that stand as a source of pride and inspiration for all alumni. Most of this year's celebration will be virtual, so we invite you to join us from the comfort and safety of your home.
SUU Founders Week includes the launch of the Tradition Keeper program. WIth 50 traditions to complete and rewards to earn along the way, alumni can relive old memories and create new ones while participating in SUU's rich history of traditions. We invite you, no matter where you live, to become a tradition keeper!
Our Thunderbird Men's Cross Country team claimed its second Big Sky Conference Championship this past Saturday as the team pulled-off a stunning upset of the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (ranked No. 2 in the nation) at the Big Sky Winter Cross Country Championships. Congratulations to our Thunderbird XC runners!
Despite the impact of COVID-19 on higher education across the country, SUU continues to increase student enrollment. Spring 2021 enrollment jumped 16.1% compared to the same period last year, while SUU Online increased 224% from Spring 2020 to 2021. “Double-digit growth doesn’t happen by accident,” said President Scott Wyatt. “We attribute this to a number of factors but the most important is the unified effort on our campus to give students the most positive experience possible.”
SUU Commencement 2021 will take place over two days -- Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1 -- in order to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Each day will feature the traditional Commencement Procession from Upper Campus through the Carter Carillon and into the America First Event Center for the Main Commencement Ceremony. Individual College Convocation Ceremonies will be divided over the two days, and each convocation will be held in the America First Event Center.
With more than 60,000 graduates, SUU alumni are everywhere in the world making a difference. Enjoy this glimpse of a few alumni, among thousands, who represent our alma mater so well.
In this Little Learning Lecture, Dr. William Heyborne, associate professor of biology, shares what "Grit" means, why it is important to us personally, and how to develop it.
