Where is home for you? I'm originally from Santa Barbara, CA, but I've lived in Chicagoland for almost 4 years now, and I just moved to the Uptown/ Ravenswood neighborhood.
Do you have any nicknames? Some close friends and family call me Sav or Savy!
What’s your favorite movie? I'm actually not a huge movie person, so I'm going to break the rules a bit and go with my favorite TV show which is Ted Lasso. It's so heart-warming and funny.
Who is your most listened to musical artist? It's definitely the band "Lawrence," and the main singer of that band actually just got nominated for a Tony! My guilty pleasure is also the Jonas Brothers; it's the nostalgic music that I listened to in middle school.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be? I would definitely want to teleport.
Do you have any pets? Children? I don't currently have any pets or children except my plant babies!
What’s one of your favorite words in English? I like the word doppelganger, but I have a feeling that it might not even be an English word, and we may have stolen it from another language.
Do you have a favorite word in another language? I like the word 特别 (te bie) in Mandarin (it means especially special, particular, unusual) 🙂 I just like how it sounds, and it's so versatile.
What is one piece of advice you have for students who are learning English? Reflect consistently on your own progress! It's easy to think about how much more you have to learn, but it's super important to remind yourself that your English is better than it was yesterday! Think about one new word that you understood today, or one new achievement you made compared to before

Have you lost something important on campus? Don’t panic! Here are some things you can do:
|

Go to the Lost & Found Office at the Service Center in the 1st floor lobby of Student Center East, or call the office at (312) 413-5100.
- Ask a staff member or teacher to check the Lost & Found box in Addams Hall 101. It is often filled with items students have left behind!

Report it to the UIC Police. Call the non-emergency number 996-2830 or 6-2830 from a university phone. A police officer will come to you to take your report. Try it! In the past, students and teachers have gotten their lost items returned.

Checking My Grades on Blackboard:

By now, your teacher has probably told you to check "My Grades" on Blackboard. Or maybe you submitted a homework assignment, and your teacher gave it to you on paper or in Google Docs. Of course, you want to see whether you did well on an assignment. But is there more beyond the Satisfactory and Unsatisfactory or the 75% score? To find out, read more>>.

Many universities use the same online application. It is called The Common App. This makes the application process faster for you. With the Common App you can do the following:
|
- Add the colleges that you want to apply to
- Complete the Profile, Family, Education, Testing, and Activities areas. This information will go to all the universities.

Complete any extra College-specific information. Each university may have an extra essay or some additional information that they require.
- Listen to this video and read the transcript for details on the Common App.
