Now on the LECOM Stage, Shakespeare In Love, with screenplay by Marc Norman, Tom Stoppard, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall. Young playwright Will Shakespeare (Curtis Jones III) is stuck. He is overdue in finishing his latest play—a half-baked mess of a comedy called Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate’s Daughter. When he finds his muse in Viola de Lesseps (Maeve Kirby), will their blossoming romance be the inspiration he so despirately needs to save his play, or perhaps transform it entirely? Join us for Shakespeare in Love... a romantic comedy about the greatest love story, almost never told...and a dog. With a cast full of Erie theatre favorites including Matt Fuchs, Michael Haas, Ryan Ingram, Michael Burns, J.D. Mizikowski, Michael Hipwell, and Betsy Butoryak, along with thrilling sword fighting (choreographed by Domenic Del Greco), and stunning period sets and costumes, Shakespeare in Love is sure to become an audience favorite.

Kate Neubert-Lechner, Executive Director |
| Dear Playhouse Friends, Tonight, we open Shakespeare in Love and I can’t wait for you to join us and see this sumptuously gorgeous production. The show has all the comedy and romance you’d expect from the stage adaptation of the 1998 Academy Award Best Picture & Best Screenplay winning film…and yes, a dog, too! I am so proud of what this wonderful cast and production team have accomplished and want to take a moment to acknowledge those behind the scenes.
Our new scenic and lighting designer, Sam Brady, has truly made a statement with his bold, functional, and engaging scenic design that mirrors London’s Globe Theatre and incorporates all the eclectic colors and patterns that were so popular in Elizabethan architecture and design, and his lighting design is a character in the show all of its own. We’re thrilled to welcome him to our Playhouse team and family and cannot wait to see everything else he’ll accomplish in his ensuing tenure with us! Of course, he couldn’t do it without Julie Lokahi and Brendan Daughtery, who have worked tirelessly to make this scenic and lighting vision come to life. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that their hard work was more than worth it.
It’s no surprise to you all that Ryan Ingram and Crystal Corritore work magic in the costume shop, but this production is a feast for the eyes with the incredible costumes Ryan has designed and Crystal has built, along with the costumes Ryan has rented from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among other locations. Their feats wouldn’t be possible without the help of some very talented volunteers, Elaine Wright and Kristie Reagle, and for them, we are so very grateful.
Please join our cast of Playhouse favorites, new faces, and familiar faces from the stages of All An Act and Dramashop, as they take you on a journey into the world of William Shakespeare, Christopher “Kit” Marlowe, Richard Burbage, and, of course, Queen Elizabeth I. The show is a true testament to the incredible talent we have here in Erie, PA at your Erie Playhouse and you’ll leave with a smile on your face and hope in your heart that love will always conquer all.

PLAYTIME!PLAYtime is busy as we visit 40 classrooms each week with great literacy experiences through stories and the arts! This week some kids were taking on the role of "Tiger” in the story, Read to Tiger. Others listened to Excellent Ed. Kids put on their thinking caps as they shared what they were “excellent” at doing! We discovered lots of kids who were helping out at home, being a good friend, and showing kindness towards others! It was an excellent lesson! And speaking of excellent, PLAYtime facilitator, Karen Nasca, is presenting a workshop for teachers this week at St. Ben’s. Storytelling through the Arts is an extension of some of the connections PLAYtime makes during its visits into the classrooms. One final note, Forging Connections has begun its new journey at Edison Elementary where 18 fourth graders embark on a new adventure reading, writing, creating, and performing a show. It is PLAYtime’s second acting troupe to be formed in community schools throughout the area and plans to grow are in the works!
