New Parent Newsletter - May 4

To help keep newly enrolled families on track, we are pleased to share the second issue of the New Parent Newsletter, which is a digest of important and timely items from the New Parent Page at marist.com/newparent.

You will receive the New Parent Newsletter every other week through June 1. After that date, you will receive the June, July, and August editions of the Weekly Way Newsletter, which is sent to all current parents.

Previous issues of the newsletter and full details regarding the information below are available on the New Parent Page, which we will continue to update through the summer.

War Eagle Welcome This Sunday, May 7
We look forward to seeing you for the “War Eagle Welcome” this Sunday, May 7. Please pay close attention to your family’s assigned 30-minute session, as communicated via email from the Admissions Office on Friday, April 28. Your child’s specific Peer Leader will only be present during your designated time.
  • Parking will be in the main lot, and we will have signage in place to direct you to check-in.
  • Peer Leaders will exchange contact information directly with their peer kids at the event. Please be sure your child is prepared to provide the best cell phone number (theirs or yours) for summer communications.
  • Attire is casual. Students will play games on the field, so we recommend comfortable clothing, sneakers, and sunscreen. Parents will be in the shade of the Arcade.
  • The Marist Campus Store will be open. Please stop and shop as you depart campus so we can begin each session in a timely manner.
  • Lastly, this event is for new students and parents only to help manage the volume of attendees. Please make other arrangements for siblings.
  • Questions? Contact the Admissions Office.
From the Clinic: Magnus Health Account Access
All new students now have profiles within Magnus Health. If your family is new to Marist and Magnus Health, you should have received a welcome email from Magnus (service@magnushealthportal.com) on Tuesday, May 2.
The email will prompt you to create a password to set up your account. You will then be able to log in to your Magnus account and see your child listed. Once you open your child’s profile, you will see a list of health-related tasks to complete, including three Georgia High School Association (GHSA) forms and the Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form.

If you already have a Magnus account for a current Marist student, you will see your newly enrolled child added to your profile. Please move forward with completing the tasks just as you have for your other children.

Importantly, if your child plans to participate in upcoming fall sports tryouts and performing arts auditions (see below), they must have the three GHSA forms on file with a Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form dated on or after April 1, 2022 before the first day of tryouts.

All new students must complete all health-related tasks in Magnus by Friday, June 2.

Required Summer Assignment for Rising 7th Graders
Foundations teachers and House Leaders will be using the book "7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens" to teach personal responsibility and help form good habits at Marist and beyond. All 7th graders are required to obtain a physical copy of this book and read it over the summer in preparation for discussions and exercises during the next school year.

Required Agenda for 7th Graders
On Orientation Day in August, each 7th grader will receive a specially designed Marist academic planner. Your student account will be billed for the cost (about $12). This planner is different from the smaller planner sold in the Campus Store. Please do not purchase a different planner for your child, as we require all 7th graders to use this planner. Teachers and House Leaders will reinforce use of this planner as an organizational tool throughout the school year. Students in other grades can use any planner they choose.
Marist Campus Store
Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, the Marist Campus Store will be the only provider of Marist uniform polos. Flynn O’Hara & Sue Mills will continue to sell the uniform polos through May 2023.

You can purchase your polos in person at the Marist Campus Store or online. Through June 2, the store is open Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Summer hours will be 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. from June 6-29. The store will be closed in July but reopens in August.

The online store will be available May 7 - July 31. Online orders are for in-store August pick up only. The campus store is located in Winchester Lobby, Ivy Street Center. All purchases are tax-free, and proceeds benefit the school.

Please note the Campus Store is working on a performance polo option in youth sizes and will announce once available. Purchasing your own shirts and embroidering is not permitted.
