Message from the President

The spring weather in Alaska has put some energy into the air, and the busy summer season is rapidly approaching!
Many Alaskans are feeling inspired to get out and see more of the state again this year, after venturing out on road trips for the first time in 2020. As you advertise on social media, keep in mind that many of your viewers may be Alaskans considering another staycation getaway this summer. Take advantage of ATIA's new campaign that just kicked off "Show Up For Alaska", featuring ads on radio, television and digital media to promote in-state tourism. You can place specials for your Alaskan neighbors through our website!

Covid remains the X factor for many of our state’s visitors. See the Covid Vaccination and Testing information below for you to share with your potential guests as they reach out with questions. New travel guidance was released by the State on April 26th which exempts fully vaccinated travelers from testing or quarantining prior to or after arriving in state. Read more details in Health Advisory 2, linked below.

Thanks for your ongoing engagement with ATIA!

COVID Vaccination and Testing Info

April 26, 2021 - The State released updated health information this week with a couple of key points:
  • Travelers to the state are not required to get tested prior to arriving or upon arrival
    • Non-vaccinated travelers are still encouraged to get tested prior to travel or to take advantage of free testing available at many ports of entry to help identify and mitigate the spread of the virus and its variants.
    • Fully vaccinated travelers (defined by being two weeks post vaccination) have no requirement or recommendation to get tested prior to or after arriving in state.
  • An optional "Safe Travels Form" can be completed via the Alaska Travel Portal This is the hub for all traveler information and allows travelers to request free testing and a free vaccination when they become available at Alaska airports.

Governor Dunleavy Issues Administrative Order Precluding Alaska Vaccine Passports
April 26, 2021 - Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy today issued Administrative Order No. 321 stating that the State of Alaska will not require vaccine passports in order to travel to, or around, Alaska.
“Alaska has led the nation in vaccine distribution for individuals over the age of 16 that want to be vaccinated, and beginning June 1, 2021, vaccines will be available for anyone traveling to Alaska who chooses to be vaccinated. The Dunleavy Administration will continue to protect the fundamental right of citizens to travel freely between states, as well as the rights of Alaskans who travel within their state.”
