To support you, NYU Silver is hosting a series of informal, supportive group discussions where you can connect with peers, share your thoughts, and explore feelings about the recent election events. These sessions will be guided by Associate Dean Courtney O’Mealley (MSW) and Professor Pia Hargrove (MSW, LMSW) and are open to all students. November 18 marks the beginning of NYU’s Trans Awareness Week—an annual week-long series of events that celebrates the lives and experiences of transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people while educating the NYU community on how they can better support them. In 2024, trans and non-binary communities are hot topics online, in the media, and in politics. In this spirit, the LGBTQ+ Center has cultivated a series of events that aims to educate, empower, and celebrate our trans and non-binary community members. Join us in welcoming our newest student group: the Black Care Collective! BCC warmly welcomes and supports all Black-identifying students at the NYU Silver School of Social Work, along with their allies. Their goal is to foster a sense of community among Black students while enhancing awareness of pressing health and social welfare issues impacting the Black community. They prioritize creating safe spaces that encourage self-reflection and understanding, empowering the Black community to raise their voices for meaningful change in society. This workshop invites participants to explore the diversity of Jewish identity and practice at NYU, learn about the history of anti-Semitism and its manifestations today, and reflect on the impact of anti-Semitism on the Jewish student experience. Student Restorative Justice Training

Restorative justice (RJ) is an Indigenous-grounded approach that focuses on repairing relationships in the community. This training provides opportunities for students to unpack and explore the RJ mindset and alignment with Social Work practices, foster meaningful connections, and restore harmed relationships.
