IMA Professor Dr. Patricia Beckmann-Wells’ Film Accepted into 2025 Slamdance Film Festival |
A film by Interactive Media Arts Professor Dr. Patricia Beckmann-Wells, “Mombomb, Part 1,” has been accepted into the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival in two categories: Episodic and Digital, Interactive and Gaming. The festival qualifies for the Academy Award and British Academy Film Awards. Final selections for Slamdance will be announced in April with winners eligible for Academy Award nominations.

The Spot: Center for Basic Needs Moving to Student Activities Center in February |
On Tuesday, February 4, The Spot: Center for Basic Needs will close their current location in the B 100 building. The center will reopen on Monday, February 10, in their new home in the Student Activities Center (SAC) for regular services. Please check the center’s website for additional details and updates. Women’s Basketball Team Beats No. 10 in the State |
The Irvine Valley women's basketball team earned another big win last Friday night. The Lasers and first-year head coach Claire Gocke went on the road and defeated No. 10 in the state Cypress, 77-72, in an Orange Empire Conference game. It was the first victory in Orange Empire Conference play for IVC. Irvine Valley moved its record to 9-9 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Cypress went to 11-7 overall and 0-2 in the OEC. It was the second win for Irvine Valley over a team ranked in the top 13 in the state in the last week. Read More »

Michelle Chen didn’t take the road most traveled, and that’s exactly why her story stands out. A 2023 graduate of Irvine Valley College (IVC), Michelle transferred to UCLA’s prestigious Design Media Arts (DMA) program, a major with an acceptance rate of just 5 percent. “The year I was accepted, they only took 15 transfer students out of hundreds of applicants,” Michelle says.
