VentureBridge Demo Day participants pitching to investors in New York
The CMU Swartz Center's VentureBridge Demo Day Hits The Road For Multi-City Stops
The CMU Swartz Center has hosted its annual VentureBridge Demo Day in either San Francisco, CA or Pittsburgh previously, but this year marked the inaugural debut of a 3-city Demo Day event in New York City on September, 27 in addition to the event held in Pittsburgh on September, 20 and another that was held in San Francisco on October 3, 2023.

The Swartz Center would like to extend a special thank you to Peter Stern (ECE '89) for his keynote at the Demo Day event in New York City, and also congratulate the following VB '23 startups: Addy AI, AugX, Conduit, Erosion, Fluid Reality, Leaficient, Off the Line, Pendulum, Tacit, Upview, Velo, and past VB startups and alumni startups Wisy (VB 19),  Advanced Optronics (VB ’22), ApertureData (VB ’20), Beam (VB ’22), Shift (VB ’19), Parthean (VB ’21), Equa (VB ’21), Mach 9 (VB ’21), Voaige (VB ’22), EStat (VB ’21), HoneyComb Credit (TPR '17), BlastPoint (TPR '16, SCS '07) and Arieca (Eng '18) on their

Transfr, a VR Platform for Workforce Training, Raises $40M
Founded by CMU Tepper School of Business alumnus Bharanidharan Rajakumar, Transfr, a startup creating VR tools for training and career development, has announced it has raised $40M in a Series C round led by ABS Capital. The round brings Transfr's total raised to $90M.

CoPilot Training App Raises $6.5M 
CoPilot, a digital training app that matches users with one-on-one remote fitness coaches, has raised $6.5M in Series A-1 funding led by Jackson Square Ventures. The app, co-founded by CEO Matt Spettel and CTO Gabriele Madonna, and which has seen more than 1.5M workouts completed on the platform, matches users with a coach that they connect with in order to receive a custom fitness plan.

Ecotone Renewables Wins Pitt Sustainability
Challenge and $300K
CMU startup Ecotone Renewables won the Pitt Sustainability Challenge with a prize of $300K. The company will be placing ZEUS anaerobic digesters on or near Pitt’s campuses in order to process ten tons of food waste and divert 120 tons CO2e per system per year, aiding Pitt's mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2037. Ecotone Renewables was also a first place winner in the
2019 McGinnis Venture Competition.

Eric Wise Receives 2023 Recent Alumni Achievement Award
Eric Wise is the recipient of Carnegie Mellon University's 2023 Recent Alumni Achievement Award. In 2015, Eric launched his own companyWise Telemetry. His technology was awarded a patent in 2016 and in 2021, Otodata, the world’s largest tank monitoring company, acquired Wise Telemetry.

Innovation Scholar Ram Potham Makes Top 100 for the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Global Pitch Competition
CMU AI student Ram Potham recently made it to the top 100 for the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization Global Pitch Competition with his startup that focuses on improving landing pages using AI (to increase conversions and sales) for startups. In Ram's words, "Although we're just getting started, I'm thrilled about the potential this idea holds for the future".

Are you a CMU graduate student interested in being a part of a network of entrepreneurially-minded students and furthering your startup dreams? Then the James R. Swartz Fellows program may be for you. Applications are open for the 2023-25 James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellows cohort.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.

 NOTE: Early applications are encouraged. Due to the competitive nature of this program and the limitation of 12-14 slots available, interviews will be based on the strength of the candidate's application and CMU program diversity.
