From the very beginning, the College’s late founder, Dr. Warren Carroll, understood that a library was of the utmost importance to a traditional liberal arts institution. So, in the early years, what is now St. Kilian’s Café served as the library, and it was expanded in 1988 to form what is now the St. John the Great Student Center. The facility helped the College get its first full accreditation.
Then, through the tireless efforts of our then Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Robert C. Rice, in 2004 the College built the St. John the Evangelist Library, which would provide the students and faculty of Christendom College with the 21st century facility that its rigorous curriculum demanded. The library’s grand opening took place on Oct. 9, 2004, with an original composition by our very own Dr. Kurt Poterack.
The Director of the Library, Mr. Andrew Armstrong (MSLS ‘94), and the staff of the library look forward to serving your research and class needs in the upcoming years.
