4-H Fall Kick-Off

When: Thursday, October 6, 6:30-8:30 pm
Where: UWO Fond du Lac Campus (LGI Meeting Room 1st floor past the theater) - 400 University Dr. Fond du Lac
Who: General club leaders or youth leaders/club officers for Fond du Lac County 4-H
What to Bring: Bring your ideas, a laptop, Chromebook, or tablet, notebook, and pen/pencil.

Join us in planning out the new 4-H year and celebrating National 4-H Week! Clubs will get a chance to plan out the year, get new ideas, share with other clubs, collaborate, play games and fun activities, and win some prizes! All clubs participating in the event will receive a club takeaway! Thanks to Compeer Financial for sponsoring this event!

4-H Statewide Arts Camp- Save the Date!

Are you a middle schooler looking for an opportunity to explore the arts through 4-H? If so, you don’t want to miss Wisconsin 4-H Arts Camp! This state-level experience offers one place for youth grades 6-8 to learn about topics like music, drama, visual arts, photography, communications, and more!

4-H Arts Camp is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Extension and is funded through registrations and a grant from the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. You’ll learn lots of creative ideas to take home to share with your family, friends, and community.

Save the dates of October 21-23 for this popular Wisconsin 4-H program at Upham Woods (Wisconsin Dells). Registration will be available from September 1-19 in 4HOnline.

Market Livestock Project Production Record Forms Due September 9, 2022

 All market livestock sale participants must complete an official Market Livestock Production Record Form. Fillable and printable forms as well as completed examples are located at:  https://fyi.extension.wisc.edu/fdlmeat/forms/ and must be completed and mailed or emailed to the Extension Office by the Friday following Labor Day: Friday, September 9, 2022. 
Emailed forms should be sent to katie.gindt@wisc.edu.
This copy to the Extension Office is in addition to any required forms for 4-H club or FFA chapter requirements. 
Failure to successfully complete and turn in the form on time may result in loss of sale privileges for the following year.

2022 State 4-H Dairy Judging

Twelve teams and a total of 52 youth competed in the junior division of the contest. Juniors placed ten classes, in addition to answering Type Analysis Questions (TAQs). TAQ questions are designed to help youth recognize type traits that play a significant role in functional conformation and placing in the class.

The team from Sheboygan County took first, 23 points ahead of second place Fond du Lac County. Fond du Lac County placed second and included team members Cameron R, Dylan R, Isaac L, and Leah M. Joe Loehr, Chad Ryan, and Matthew Kramer coached the team. Sam Mess, Colton G, and Levi C. participated in the showmanship portion of the competition.

The top ten juniors overall in the contest were Laney N of Manitowoc County, Braeden B of Pierce County, Gracin S of Rock County, Cameron R of Fond du Lac County, Alison G of Sheboygan County, Audrey G of Sheboygan County, Dylan R of Fond du Lac County, Shyanne H of Barron County, Olivia D of St. Croix County and Eleah W of Wood County.

Award Applications Due Sept 15

Citizenship, Leadership, & 4-H Growth Achievement Awards - Awards may be earned by members who have completed ninth grade or above. Members may either be self-nominated or nominated by their leader. It is a short application and needs two recommendations. Forms are available from the Extension Office, your club general leader, or on the web at https://fonddulac.extension.wisc.edu/4h/awards-scholarships/.
Community Service Awards for Clubs and Individuals - Service to the community is a fundamental principle of 4-H. We will recognize individual youth and clubs who have taken leadership in 4-H community service efforts. Top placing clubs will have funds donated by the Fond du Lac County 4-H Leader Association in their club’s name to the agency for which the club did community service. 
Apply for the 2022 4-H Key Award - The Key Award is the highest state 4-H award earned by members who have shown consistent growth in their 4-H involvement, developed and applied their leadership skills, and actively participated in their 4-H club and community. Youth in grades 11-13 are eligible to apply. Up to 5 recipients from Fond du Lac County can be selected. Annual Financial Reviews (AFR) Deadlines

Annual Financial Reviews (AFR) are due September 1, and the Charter application is due November 1.
The Annual Financial Report for all 4-H Clubs/Groups with a checking and/or savings account is due on September 1, 2022. The Charter financial year ends June 30. Here is a link to the charter website: https://4h.extension.wisc.edu/resources/volunteer-resources/administrative/charter/
The following Six Charter Components are Due September 1 to the Fond du Lac County Extension Office/Tracy Keifenheim
  1. Wisconsin 4-H Clubs & Groups Annual Financial Report
  2. 4-H Club or 4-H Group Audit Checklist
  3. Copy of the checkbook and/or savings registry covering July 1 – June 30
  4. Copy of the bank statement ending June 30 or July 1 for each account. Any differences between the bank statement(s) and the ending balance reported must be reconciled and the reconciliation must be uploaded with the Annual Financial Report.
  5. Current inventory of land, buildings, property, or project equipment with individual values of $1,000 or greater.
  6. Monthly Treasurer’s Reports for 4-H Clubs or Groups with annual income greater or equal to $20,000
