Religious Literacy Is Essential to Civic Literacy

Dr. Karen E. Park is a historian of Christianity and religion in American public life. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Chicago Divinity School and taught theology and religious studies for many years at St. Norbert College. She writes regularly for national publications including Religion News Service, National Catholic Reporter, Religion Dispatches, and Commonweal, and is the author of Ex Voto, an independent publication exploring religion, history, and American public life. Karen and her husband, Martyn, have called Appleton home for more than twenty years, where they raised four children who are now young adults living and working across the United States and Europe.

Fellowship Summer Picnic!
Sunday August 2, 4-6pm, Smith Park
Everyone is invited to our summer picnic at Smith Park (301 Park Street, Menasha, 54952). The covered pavilion has picnic tables and benches. Bring your own chair or blanket if you want to sit outside. We'll have bubbles, balls, and a bounce house, feel free to bring other lawn games or fun to play together.
We'll provide hot dogs (meat or vegetarian), buns (regular or gluten free), and condiments.
Please bring a side dish-- Suggestions based on last name:
A-E: Cut up fruit
F-I: Salad or veggies
J-P: Pasta or potato salad
Q-U: Dessert
V-Z: Drinks (no alcohol)

We're in need of volunteers to serve as Coffee Servers and Welcomers on Sunday mornings! These simple but meaningful roles help create a warm, inviting atmosphere for everyone who comes through the doors of the Fellowship. Whether you're brewing coffee or greeting guests with a smile, you can make a lasting impact. These roles rotate and each volunteer serves approximately every 4-6 weeks.

UU the Vote
Are you ready for the August 11th primary? Our UU the Vote team members can help us prepare with information about voter registration and voting this Sunday, August 19, before and after our 10:00 am service. This important primary includes elections to determine final candidates for Governor, U.S. Congress and the Wisconsin legislature for the November 3rd midterms election. Are you registered to vote? Do you have a plan to vote? What questions do you have? Make sure you are prepared and you too can help others be prepared for this important primary.

Summer 2026 Religious Exploration for Kids
Our Summer Religious Exploration (RE) program for current Pre-K through 5th grade children is rolling. Throughout the summer, children will explore our faith’s values, build friendships, and enjoy hands-on lessons and fun activities each Sunday.
If your child(ren) was registered for RE during the 2025–2026 program year, they are already registered for summer—no need to sign up again until registration opens for the 2026–2027 program year.
If your family is new to RE, we’re excited to welcome you! Please register your child(ren) using THIS LINK. There is no fee for summer participation.
Registration for the 2026–2027 Religious Exploration program year will open in late summer. At that time, all families will need to complete a new registration, and program fees will apply.
We look forward to sparking curiosity and spending meaningful time in community with our young learners this summer. Come join us, won't you!
