This Week at a GlanceMonday, Jan 28 - Board Meeting 7:00pmWednesday, January 30, 7:00 pm – 2019 Party & Auction Meeting (see below for location details) Summer Camp Survey

By now you’ve all received an invitation to Friends of Elysian’s Annual Party and Auction on Friday, March 1st, 2019.
This will be my first time attending the event, and I am really looking forward to it! Having worked in charter schools in previous roles, I am well aware of the uphill battle we all face in fundraising for our school. Now, more than ever, we are faced with increasing infrastructure costs, demands for technology and curriculum expansion, staffing needs and many other areas. With the limits we face in state funding, Elysian, as a community, needs to roll our sleeves up and work smarter to supplement the difference.
Friends of Elysian works very hard to accomplish this year after year, and I’ve really enjoyed meeting with Jenifer and her team to identify what our school will benefit from most right now.
I’m excited about the new “Elysian Loves Literacy” campaign. The idea of infusing our classroom libraries with new materials and technology is paramount to our students’ success. I am looking forward to the party, and hope you all join me there! Susan

Note from the Nurse Just a quick reminder we are a NUT FREE school. That includes all nuts and peanuts (including Nutella products). There have been several reports that students are still coming to school with foods containing peanuts and nut products. Please review our policy and snack safely food list on our website.
Thank you,
Diane deSombre, RN

We are off to a great start for the 2019 Annual Party and Auction with nearly 100 tickets sold during our one-day sale! Thanks to all who responded so generously, not only with your own ticket purchases, but with additional donations towards faculty & staff tickets. While we have raised just over $12,000, we still have quite a way to go – so if you haven't yet made your purchase, please do so as soon as possible!
It's guaranteed to be a great night of fun, food, and fundraising, so please consider inviting friends and family to join you at our special guest rate. Additional details and registration information for all attendees can be found at www.elysian.givesmart.com.

With the 2019 Annual Party and Auction just ONE MONTH AWAY we continue to need the help of our generous volunteers. Please consider joining us THIS Wednensday, JANUARY 30, at 7:00 PM. Please note that the meeting will NOT be in the school building, but at 132 Monroe Street, #5B. An RSVP is not necessary – and last minute attendees are welcome! – but if you know you are planning to attend, please drop a line to friends@ecsnj.org. We look forward to seeing you!

While we reach out to our generous local business community for its help in providing a varied selection of services and restaurants for our silent auction, it is often our FAMILIES that provide the most sought after and unique experiences. We are looking for: EXPERIENCES: Tickets (concerts/theater/TV tapings/sports etc.), behind-the-scenes tours, exclusive access to special locales or opportunities, NYC restaurant certificates, etc. EXCURSIONS: A weekend in a vacation home, hotel stays, golf outings, boat tours, etc. EXPERTISE: Home services (landscaping, design, carpentry, etc.), health & wellness etc. ITEMS: Gift baskets, small appliances/electronics (new-in-box please), jewelry, shopping certificates, sports/entertainment memorabilia etc. Our goal is to have a variety of items that can help raise significant funds for the school and we can only do that with your help. We are ideally seeking new items or special experiences, valued at roughly $200 or more. (However, if something is less than that, unique, or you are unsure of the value, please don't hesitate to contact us.) Please know that while we hope to be able to include all donations we may not be able to accommodate all items, or may need to group items together. Thank you very much for your consideration of this request and for your support!

The Elysian Loves Literacy campaign has gotten off to a great start! In fact, so far, we have received support from donors in 5 states! To help your child(ren) with their sales pitch, here is a way to explain the ELL campaign: "Elysian would like to purchase lots of new books for school. To cover that expense, I wanted to find out of you would like to make a donation. In exchange for your $10 donation, you can write a message on a Dedication Sticker which will be placed inside a new book. The students who read that book will see your message!" Please remember to return the completed dedication stickers, donor sheet, and a check for the amount collected (cash accepted if needed) to your child’s teacher. If you do not plan to sell the dedication stickers, please return them to your child’s teacher so that they can be used by others. Stop by the office or reach out to Elissa at aaronsonelissa@gmail.com if you would like to receive more dedication stickers or if you have any questions. Simply click HERE to purchase online. Thank you for your support!

| A note about attendance: The New Jersey State Law is very specific about school attendance. By law, children are expected to be in school every day unless they are ill. There is no room in the law or regulations to excuse any children who have prior plans. We must mark all children absent who are not in attendance.
