Lazirko Award for the Innovative Use of Learning Technologies |
|
|
|
Grace Ambrose, a teaching associate professor in marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is this year's Lazirko award winner due to using technology to transform traditional lectures into dynamic, interactive experiences. By integrating tools like Mentimeter, she fosters an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that encourages active student participation and real-time feedback. Her innovative approach not only enhances learning outcomes but also inspires students to take ownership of their educational journey. Congratulations, Grace!

Generative AI and Grading |

AI Reminders for the end of the semester: |
- Do not upload student work into commercial AI tools (including Microsoft Copilot) without student permission.
- AI detection software is strongly discouraged: AI content detection is inherently unreliable. Most tools are easily circumvented by masking the use of AI and detection software may disproportionately flag ESL students and those from marginalized groups. Given the lack of assurance provided by AI detection tools, there are no university tools available for such purposes and their use will not offer certainty. When in doubt, talk to the student.
-
Set a good example by being transparent regarding your use of AI in class. Remind your students to review course policies regarding AI use and citation, including your explanation for why that policy exists.
- Refer to the CETL resource on AI, including syllabus statements and information on AI detection.
