1 Chronicles 28:9-10
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.  Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”
New International Version (NIV)
Every time I walk into our, Tallowood's, worship center, I give thanks for those who used their good gifts to build it.  I love the height of the ceiling, the story told in the stained glass from Old Testament to the cross, the story of Jesus and the Great Commission.  At night it is especially beautiful!

David wanted so badly to build a Temple for the Lord that he set aside all of the materials for his son Solomon.  You get the feeling that David had it all planned out and handed it off to his son.  Solomon prayed when the Temple was finished and God showed up in glorious power.

In the New Testament, Paul reminds Christians that as a group they are the Temple of the Holy Spirit.  Believe it or not, God takes the raw materials of our lives, builds us together in alignment with his Son Jesus, the cornerstone and then fills us with his presence.  Our hope every Sunday is that someone will walk in, catch us in adoration and decide, “God is here and I must follow him.”

This Sunday, wherever you worship, pray over the pews you pass.  People may sit there later.  Pray that they will encounter God and turn to him, believing in Jesus Christ.  Pray for the preacher that he will catch God’s vision clearly and make it plain for all to hear.  Pray that we will be transformed, specifically that God will take the brokenness of our lives like so much broken glass, form it together as a church and shine his glorious light through us.

Pray with me:
Father, Masterbuilder of your church, continue to form us and conform us into the image of your perfect Son.  Let others see you in us until all come to know Christ as Savior and Lord.  This is our prayer in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
