2 Corinthians 4:17-18
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
New International Version (NIV)
I know we get in trouble because we sing about trouble.  "Nobody knows. . ."  "Trouble, I've got trouble . . ."  How do we avoid all of this trouble?  Another, better question is, "How is God using this trouble?"

Paul wrote to the Corinthians and described the pain he endured.  He was beaten and shipwrecked and bitten by a snake.  None of these things became the story of his life.  His story was all wrapped up in God's story.

God is working in our troubles.  If we could see them from the eternal perspective, our heaviest burdens are light, compared to the weight of glory which will be revealed in us.  Troubles may seem to never end, but they do.  Our troubles are momentary compared to forever.

How then shall we live?  Instead of focusing on the trouble, let us focus on the Savior whom we cannot see.  Everything you can see right now is temporary.  God's love, by contrast, lasts forever.  And because God loves you, so will you!

 Pray with me:
Father, you know the trouble we have seen and the trouble we have caused.  If it isn’t too much trouble, would you remind us again of the Truth about Jesus Christ and his love for us.  Then our hearts will not be troubled, because we believe in you.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
