The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is seeking applications for 'Small-scale experiments that advance fundamental physics'. The foundation is interested in high-risk, high-reward projects that could lead to new discoveries beyond the standard models of particle physics and cosmology with “small-scale” referring to table-top-size experiments or to ones that could fit in a typical university physics research lab. Ideas from individuals and small teams are welcome and may include international collaboration.

Global Initiatives and ISEO is pleased to announce funding for a small number of grants of up to $50,000 for a 12-month period for postdoctoral employees with foreign residence in any discipline. Grants can be used to cover postdoctoral salary and benefits and, in combination with other grants and fellowships received, cannot cover more than 100% of a scholar's salary.

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is interested in recruiting faculty from international universities for temporary teaching and research collaborations as a way to further internationalize their campus. A TUM host (faculty or junior fellows) must be identified for the application and stays can be between one week and three months.

The Jacobs CIFAR Research Fellowship Program offers fellowships to early- to mid-career researchers whose work is dedicated to improving the learning and development of children and youth worldwide. Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to, education, sciences, psychology, economics, sociology, behavioral science, computer science, pedagogy, linguistics, neurosciences, and science of learning. Interdisciplinary research is encouraged.

The MedTech Accelerator by the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur is re-imagining the acceleration of Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship here at UC San Diego. Our proprietary Stage One Program helps UC San Diego affiliated startups navigate the complex processes of bringing deep tech-medical innovations to market. The program will take place in the Institute for the Global Entrepreneur, Franklin Antonio Hall, 1st floor.

Global Initiatives invites faculty researchers from all disciplines to participate as mentors in the International Summer Research Program (ISRP) from June 28-August 29, 2026. ISRP is a program in which undergraduate and graduate students from partner universities spend nine-weeks conducting full-time research in a research lab. Hosting laboratories will receive $500 materials and lab fee for any costs associated with hosting the student. Additionally, this is a great opportunity for graduate students and postdocs in labs to gain supervising experience and is a possible recruitment tool for graduate students, postdocs and researchers. If you are interested, you can submit your information via the Call to Faculty form.

The International Research Scientist Development Award (IRSDA) provides support and protected time (three to five years) to advanced postdoctoral U.S. research scientists and recently-appointed U.S. junior faculty (applicants must be at least two years beyond conferral of doctoral degree) for an intensive, mentored research career development experience.
The experience will be in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) as defined by the World Bank. Low-income, lower-middle-income and upper-middle-income countries are included.
Applications are invited from early career investigators from any health-related discipline who propose career development activities and a research project that is related to the health priorities of the LMIC.

As a reminder, UC San Diego requires senior and key personnel on active federal award projects and on any federal proposals to complete the research security training. Complete the training before March 1, 2026, to avoid being locked out of Single Sign-On (SSO).

New Bilingual Opera Explores Migrant Journey in ‘Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote’
UC San Diego professors, Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Anthony Davis and nationally acclaimed playwright and librettist Allan Havis, will debut their new bilingual chamber opera, “Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote,” at the Southwestern College Performing Arts Center in Chula Vista, with performances at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18 2026. The opera is inspired by the children’s book of the same name by Duncan Tonatiuh and explores the hopes and perils of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mommy, Daddy and Me with Globally Engaged Tritons
Globally Engaged Tritons are excited to welcome you and your little ones to a nurturing community space. While most families attending have children aged 0-7, families of all ages are invited. We hope this space helps you connect with other parents, as it truly takes a village to help our children thrive.
