Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

New International Version (NIV)
                 I know we say “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,” but this season is not happy for everyone.  Many people are having a hard time.  Depression takes its toll in December every year.  The epidemic of anxiety leaves many paralyzed by fear.  Is there any hope?

                The prophet wrote to the people in exile and pointed them back to God.  “So do not fear . . .”  Why not?  “I am with you.”  The promise of God’s presence illumines the pervasive darkness of despair.

                Good news:  our God is a “hands-on” God.  He will strengthen us, help us and uphold us with his righteous right hand.  No need to fear.  God is here.  He is the source of our joy.  His love is still enough for us.

Pray with me:
Father, remind us again that you are our God and you are with us.  Do not let us give in to despair.  When darkness seems to hide your face, let us rest in your unchanging grace.  Thank you gracious God for the priceless gift of life.   In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
   This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
