The Alumni Association is accepting nominations for the 2027 Distinguished Service Award until Friday, July 31. This award is the highest honor the Association can bestow upon an alumnus or alumna.

Faith Diemer (right), student services coordinator for the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine, has received the 2026 Outstanding Professional Award from Chi Sigma Alpha, an honorary society for student affairs practitioners. The award honors a faculty or staff member who exemplifies the organization’s pillars of academics, research and service.
The Sixties: The Long Decade 1954-1974, an anthology published by Clemson University Emeritus College Press last December, is a finalist in the 20th annual competition by the National Indie Excellence Book Awards.

Maddie Richardson, a Master of Education in higher education and student affairs student, helped save a drowning man off the coast of Sullivan's Island. Richardson credits her years of training in water and the assistance of nearby witnesses for coming together during an emergency situation.

- A section of Highway 93 between the entrance to Mell Hall and Sherman Street will be closed from July 27-29 (weather permitting) due to the Downtown Streetscape Project.
|
- Detour routes will be in place and include using Hillcrest Avenue and Cherry Road, with local traffic only allowed beyond both points. Perimeter Road should be used as the primary route whenever possible. Martin Street via Cherry Road may be used as a detour route east of the road closure.
